Permit, registration and entry

Ethiopia asks the importer to hold an import permit from the food and drug authority and to register imported food products before they are brought in; the standards agency checks the goods against the Ethiopian standard on arrival. We supply what the registration needs, the technical data sheet, our certificates and the analysis report per line. Registration runs before the deposit and is not counted in the lead time.

Label

An Amharic and English label: the name of the food, the ingredient list with allergens, metric net weight, storage, the production and expiry dates and the name and address of the importer. For lines in our standard packs we confirm what the export pack carries and what the importer adds; for private label we prepare the label content in both languages and check your artwork against it before anything is printed.

Customs, payment route and the inland leg

There is no free trade agreement between Ethiopia and Türkiye; the offer states the tariff line for each product and the duty that applies on the day, and the payment route that applies on the day. The container clears at Djibouti and travels inland to Addis Ababa by rail or road under transit; the offer states the route, the delivery term and where the reefer chain ends, so the landed cost at Addis Ababa is known before you order.

The supermarket shelf and the kiosk

Ethiopia has two shelves. The supermarkets and the hotels of Addis Ababa have chillers and take chocolate: the tablet, the boxed assortment, the pistachio end and the Dubai style bar in our standard packs, in a reefer to Djibouti and a cool chain inland. The kiosk and the regional shop have no cooling and take the wafer, the wrapped bar, the compound-coated line and wrapped sweets by the kilo bag, dry. The offer states which lines are which, and one container carries both shelves on their own pallets.

The pistachio and kadayif bar Ethiopia has started to search for, with the price question next to it, is made in Gaziantep too, where the pistachio grows and the kadayif is made, in retail and gift formats in our standard packs or under your brand, for the supermarket chiller and the hotel shop; pistachio cream in jars travels with it.

Turkish delight and the coffee table

Boxed Turkish delight from Gaziantep, the pistachio roll and chocolate covered lokum for the supermarket, the hotel and the gift shelf, and next to the cup at the coffee ceremony; the Turkish delight page lists the groups, and plain lines travel dry, which matters on the road from Djibouti. Most lines are available in our standard packs, so an importer can start without artwork.

Route

Sea freight from Mersin to Djibouti, with the transshipment port, the delivery term, FCA Gaziantep, FOB Mersin, CIF or DAP, the transit and the inland leg to Addis Ababa stated in the offer. Chocolate and chocolate-coated lines are quoted in a reefer to Djibouti and need a cool chain inland; compound lines are stated as such; Turkish delight, sugared almonds and jellies travel dry.

Currency and payment

Offers in US dollars. Bank transfer only: 50% with the order, 50% before the container leaves, against the loading photographs. The offer states the payment route that applies on the day.

Outside the core range we buy in what your list needs and load it in the same container, with the registration covering it: biscuits and wafers in bulk, sugar free Turkish delight, bulk pistachio nuts, nuts and dried fruit in bulk, halva, instant coffee and spices.
