- Registration and entry
- The Maldives asks imported food to be registered with the food and drug authority by the importer before it is brought in, and the importer holds the import licence. We supply what the registration needs, the technical data sheet, our certificates and the analysis report per line. Registration runs before the deposit and is not counted in the lead time.
- Halal
- Lines with ingredients of animal origin, gelatine in jellies above all, travel with our halal certificate, and the offer names the certifying body per line so the importer can check that the Maldivian authority recognises it before ordering. Lines without such ingredients are stated as such on the data sheet.
- Label
- An English label: the name of the food, the ingredient list with allergens, metric net weight, storage, the production and expiry dates and the name and address of the importer. For lines in our standard packs we confirm what the export pack carries; for private label we prepare the label content and check your artwork against it before anything is printed.
- Customs
- There is no free trade agreement between the Maldives and Türkiye; the offer states the tariff line for each product and the duty that applies on the day, so the landed cost is known before you order.
- The resort shelf
- Most chocolate in the Maldives is eaten on an island that is not Malé, and it reaches the island through a resort supply company that buys by the pallet and ships by dhoni. The minibar wants the tablet and the mini bar; the boutique wants the pistachio tablet, the Dubai style bar and the boxed Turkish delight a guest carries home; the restaurant wants pistachio cream and dragées for the dessert table; the wedding planner wants sugared almonds by colour. Can a single resort buy directly?
The unit of sale is one full container, mixed across lines. A resort buys by the carton from the supply company that imports it; a resort group that fills a container and holds the import licence and the registration is quoted like an importer.
Is everything halal?
Not automatically, and we do not make a blanket claim. Our Halal certificate is held for our factory; the offer states per line which lines it covers and which body issued it, with copies on request, and says plainly where a line is not certified.
Is the container a reefer?
For chocolate lines, yes, year round on this route, with a cool store in Malé at the other end; dry lines travel dry, and a mixed load is quoted as the offer states.
Can you make a resort’s own brand?
Yes, as one of our core services: turndown chocolates, tablets, boxes and dragées under the resort’s name. We prepare the label content, you approve the artwork in writing, and the minimum per line is stated in the offer.
What is the minimum order?
