The handover point, not the figure beside it
Four terms are quoted, and what matters in each is where our responsibility ends and yours begins. FCA Gaziantep hands the goods over loaded at origin; FOB Mersin carries them to the port; CIF covers the sea leg and stops at a coastal port outside your country, the overland run still ahead of you.
DAP is the only one that names an inland destination, which is why it is the term to ask for here. Request the same list on two terms: the gap between them is the road leg.
Three hours to the ship, then the part that is not at sea
Loads are made up at origin: Gaziantep to Mersin is about three hours by road, and the lines from our own factory go into one box against one packing list(mixed container).
The overland run is where temperature bites hardest: a pallet discharged, held in a yard and driven inland spends its warmest hours off the ship. Chocolate and chocolate-coated lines are quoted in a reefer through the warm months; Turkish delight, dragées, jellies and wrapped candies travel dry, and both share one container.
The source columns read as a route map
These 2024 figures are mirror data: Burundi does not report its own imports, so they are what the rest of the world recorded as shipments here — directions, not settled totals.
Chocolate comes to about 110,056 US dollars for the year: Belgium at 51.2 per cent, then Uganda at 23.1, which describes cartons crossing a land border, not a factory next door, Egypt at 17.4 and Türkiye fourth at 5.3. Sugar confectionery is the bigger column at about 2,089,752 dollars and almost a single corridor: Kenya 90.2 per cent, India 5.9, Egypt 2.4, Türkiye seventh at 0.14. It cannot show how many hands a carton passed through, and we will not guess.
Two declarations, neither of them ours
The consignment moves inland from the port of discharge under a transit procedure filed by your clearing agent, then is declared where it comes to rest by the importer who holds the registration and answers for the description.
Our side is the file that has to survive both desks: the technical data sheet per product, our certificates, the analysis report per line. Certificates are issued for our factory, never in ours, and theorigin document for your entry is named in the offer in the form valid on the day.
The panel, in French, and two words kept apart
Mandatory content is prepared in French, with English alongside where your file or the shelf wants it: food name, ingredients with allergens, metric net weight, storage conditions, the importer’s details and the date marking. Producer-brand lines are confirmed against what the export pack carries; own-label content is built from our technical data sheet, and your artwork ischecked before printing.
Two naming rules hold in either language. A line coated in vegetable fat is a compound or a glaze, never chocolate; in the European Union it cannot be labelled chocolate at all. The jar line is a spread.
What to send so the route can be priced
Send the lines you want quoted and the format for each — bulk carton, retail box, doypack or jar — with an indicative quantity, the port of entry, the inland delivery point, and whether the pack stays in our standard pack or carries your brand; own-label artwork is printed only after you approve it.
Ask for DAP against CIF so the road leg appears as a number, not a later invoice. Couverture, bulk chocolate by the kilo, raw nuts, dried fruit, cocoa, baklava, halva, tahini and empty packaging sit outside the range: sourced on request, with composition and format confirmed before quoting (how we work).
We are inland. Which delivery term reaches our warehouse?
DAP is the one that names an inland destination and therefore prices the road leg instead of leaving it open. CIF ends at a coastal port in another country, with the overland run still ahead of you, while FCA Gaziantep and FOB Mersin hand over earlier and suit a buyer whose own forwarder controls the corridor. Ask for the same list on two terms and compare what moves.
The goods land in a neighbouring country. Who files what?
Your clearing agent files the transit movement from the port of discharge to the inland office, and the importer who holds the registration declares the consignment and answers for the description given. From our side you receive the technical data sheet per product, our certificates, the analysisreport per line and, with the origin document named in the offer in the formvalid on the day.
Which language does the label carry, and who prepares the content?
French for the mandatory information, with English alongside where your file or your shelf wants it: food name, ingredients with allergens, metric net weight, storage conditions, the importer’s name and address, and the date marking. It is built from our technical data sheet; you place it in your artworkand add the importer’s details, and on own-label runs you approve the final version in writing before printing.
