Finland's shelf comes from Sweden — what buying direct changes

One fact shapes how a Finnish importer thinks about supply, and it is easy to miss from outside the region: Sweden is the first source of Finland's imports in both chocolate and sugar confectionery. Not a marginal first — a wide one. A great deal of what sits on a Finnish shelf has already been through a Nordic warehouse before it gets there.

Home  /  Blog  /  The Nordic link in the middle  ·

It is worth being fair about this, because the link exists for good reasons. A Swedish or Nordic distributor holds stock close by, delivers in days rather than weeks, breaks bulk into small orders and carries the currency risk. For a shop, a kiosk chain or a small wholesaler, that is genuinely the right way to buy, and no container from Gaziantep competes with it on responsiveness.

If that is how you buy today, this page is not an argument that you are doing it wrong.

What it costs, and where

What the link cannot do is give you a line nobody else has. Everything in the Nordic warehouse is available to everyone else buying from the same warehouse, at a landed cost that already carries a second margin and a second handling step.

Direct import changes exactly that and nothing else. You take on the clearance, the label and the working capital of a container; in return the cost has one margin in it instead of two, and the range is yours to choose rather than yours to pick from.

What moves onto your desk

Being specific about the trade-off is more useful than selling it. Buying direct, the importer of record is you: the customs declaration, the party named on the label with a Finnish or EU address, and the registrations with the Finnish authorities. The A.TR movement certificate travels with the goods under the EU–Türkiye customs union, and the offer states the tariff line and what applies on the day.

What comes from our side is the file behind it: our technical data sheet per product, our certificates, lot traceability, and the label content prepared in Finnish and Swedish before any artwork is printed.

Why the unit of sale is a container

We sell a full container, mixed across as many lines as you want, and that is the honest floor rather than a sales tactic. Below it the freight per kilo stops making sense and the direct route loses the only advantage it has.

Mixing is what makes the floor reachable. Bulk cartons for the pick-and-mix wall, retail bags, lokum boxes, dragées, filled bars and pistachio spread jars can travel in one load, each line on its own pallet under one packing list and one movement certificate — so a first order can test several references on a single clearance.

The season and the temperature

Two Finnish specifics belong in the plan. Chocolate and chocolate-coated lines are quoted in a refrigerated container through the warm months; plain lokum, sugared almonds and gelled sweets travel dry, and a mixed load is planned with both regimes in mind. The offer says which applies to each range.

And the calendar is unforgiving at one point: the chocolate advent-calendar format is ordered against a lead time, not against the season, because the season is the one date that will not move.

What to send

Send the references, the quantity per line in cartons or pallets, the port or delivery address, and say whether you are replacing a Nordic supply line or adding to it. The written offer follows within two working days, in US dollars or euro, with, the minimum per line and the transport regime per range. Payment is 50% with the order and 50% before the container leaves, against loading photographs taken with the doors open.

Why buy from Türkiye when a Nordic distributor delivers in days?

For speed and small quantities, the Nordic distributor is the right answer and we do not pretend otherwise. Direct import is for range and cost: a line your competitor cannot buy from the same warehouse, at a landed cost with one margin in it rather than two.

What does the importer take on?

The customs declaration, the party named on the label with a Finnish or EU address, and the registrations with the Finnish authorities. The A.TR travels with the goods; the technical data sheets, certificates and lot traceability come from our side.

Can one container carry several product families?

Yes — that is the point of it. Bulk cartons, retail bags, lokum boxes, dragées, bars and jars can share one load, each line on its own pallet under one packing list.

How to order

Send the list. We do the rest.

Send your product list with approximate quantities and the destination port. You get one offer covering every line, then one container, loaded and photographed before the doors close.
