Where our leg ends and whose declaration begins

A container loaded in Gaziantep spends its first three hours on a road inside Türkiye and the rest of its journey on water. Between them sit the things that reach your cost sheet: the delivery term, the port the offer names, who files the entry, whether the box is chilled, what the panel says. None of it is decided at discharge.

Two legs, and only one of them is short

Our factory is in Gaziantep and Mersin port is about three hours away by road, so consolidationand loading sit in a narrow window.

The sea leg to the Atlantic coast is the long one. Where your warehouse sits inland of it, a road run is added after clearance and belongs to somebody the moment the term is agreed. Name the place you unload at, not the port you clear at.

The source table is also a route table

The figures here are mirror data — this market does not report its own imports, so each column is what everyone else recorded as shipments in — a direction, not a settled number.

On 2024 mirror figures the chocolate arriving is worth about 3,991,544 US dollars, European at the top: France 60.7 per cent, the Netherlands 13.5, Türkiye third at 10.77. Sugar confectionery is smaller, about 2,440,130 dollars, and off three continents: Tunisia 20.6 per cent, Colombia 19.3, Türkiye seventh at 5.08. Those columns are routes as much as shares, and what separates them is less distance than the hands a carton passes through.

Four terms, and where each one stops

FCA Gaziantep hands the goods over loaded at our factory. FOB Mersin carries them the three-hour road leg and stops on board. CIF covers the sea leg to a named discharge port. DAP alone reaches a named place inland, the only one of the four that prices the run after clearance.

Quote the same list on two terms and the gap between them is the leg you would otherwise buy separately. The offer names the term, the discharge port and any transshipment assumed — a term without a place named is an argument postponed.

Two desks, and neither of them is ours

The importer holding the registration declares the consignment and answers for the description given; your clearing agent works the entry. The customs file is national; the origin document and the rules that apply are named in the offer, which states what applies on the day.

From our side comes what that desk must accept: the technical data sheet, our certificates, the analysisreport per line. Certificates are issued for our factory, so copies are available on request and the certifying body is named; gelatine lines carry our halal certificate.

Chilled on one side of the box, French on the other

This market sits on the equator with no cool season to ship into, so chocolate and chocolate-coated lines are quoted in a reefer rather than seasonally. Turkish delight, dragées and jellies travel dry, and dry and chilled lines share one container.

The mandatory panel is prepared in French: name of the food, ingredients with allergens, metric net weight, storage conditions, the importer’s name and address and the date marking. Own-label content comes from our technical data sheet and is checked against your artwork before printing. One word stays where it belongs: a coating made with vegetable fat is a compound or a glaze on the sheet and in the price list, and in the European Union it cannot be labelled chocolate. The jar line is a spread.

What to send so the route can be priced

Send the lines you want quoted and the format for each — wrapped bar, doypack, kilo carton, printed box or jar — with an indicative quantity, the discharge port, the place you unload at and whose brand the pack carries.

Ask for that list on two terms, CIF against DAP, so the leg after clearance comes back as a figure. One container carries several lines on one order and onedocument set (mixed container). Couverture, bulk chocolate by the kilo, raw nuts, dried fruit, cocoa, baklava and halva sit outside the range: sourced on request, and we confirm composition and format before quoting (how wework).

We clear at the coast but unload inland. Which term reaches the warehouse?

DAP is the one of the four that names an inland delivery point, so the road run after clearance is priced rather than left open. CIF stops at the discharge port with that run still ahead of you, while FCA Gaziantep and FOB Mersin hand over earlier and suit a buyer whose own forwarder controls the corridor. Ask for the same list on two terms and compare what moves between them.

Who declares the goods, and what comes from your side?

The importer holding the registration files the entry and answers for the description given; your clearing agent works it on the ground. From us you receive the technical data sheet per product, our certificates, the analysis report per line. Certificates are issuedfor our factory, and the origin document and the applicable rules are named in the offer in theform valid on the day.

Will chocolate hold up on this route?

Chocolate and chocolate-coated lines are quoted in a reefer here year round rather than only through a warm season, because there is not a cool one to ship into. Turkish delight, dragées and jellies travel dry and can share the same container. Where the last leg or the shelf itself runs hot, compound-coated lines hold up better — and they are quoted, labelled and priced as compound, never as chocolate.

How to order

Send the list. We do the rest.

Send your product list with approximate quantities and the destination port. You get one offer covering every line, then one container, loaded and photographed before the doors close.
