Importing chocolate and confectionery to Liberia from Türkiye: the declaration, the standards check, the label and the reefer

An importer wants to know what to hold and what the supplier must send before a container clears at the Freeport of Monrovia. Here is the split from the supplier’s side, with the declaration first, because it is filed before the goods are shipped.

The declaration

Liberia asks the importer to file an import permit declaration before the goods are shipped, and we do not load before it is in place. The offer states the documents the declaration needs per line, the invoice, the packing list, the technical data sheet and our certificates, and we send them before the deposit, so the declaration runs on the importer’s side first and is not counted in the lead time.

Who holds what

The importer holds the declaration and the registration with the authorities, and clears the consignment at the Freeport, where it is checked against the Liberian standard. As the Turkish producer we do not register in Liberia; we supply the data sheet, our certificates and the analysis report per line. Where a certificate is asked for that we do not hold, the offer says so before the deposit, not after the container has sailed. An importer that files one declaration well files the next faster, because the documents per line are the same shape each time.

The label

An English label: the name of the food, the ingredient list with allergens, metric net weight, storage, the production and expiry dates and the importer’s name and address. For lines in our standard packs we confirm what the export pack carries and what the importer adds as a sticker; for private label we prepare the content, and the date format is confirmed on the artwork before printing. The Liberian private label page goes through it.

Customs, the dollar and the route

Liberia applies the West African common external tariff and there is no free trade agreement with Türkiye; the offer states the tariff line per product and the duty that applies on the day, in US dollars, which Liberia trades in as well as its own, and nothing about duty is printed on this site. The commercial set is the invoice, the packing list per pallet, the certificate of origin, the analysis report and, for pistachio lines, an aflatoxin certificate, listed on the how we work page. Sea freight from Mersin to Monrovia, with the transshipment and the transit stated in the offer.

The reefer and the two shelves

The route and the shelf are warm in every season, so chocolate lines are quoted in a reefer year round and stated as chocolate; compound-coated lines that go to the shop shelf are stated as compound; Turkish delight, sugared almonds and jellies travel dry. An importer that has cleared our lines once clears the next lines faster, because the data sheets and certificates are already on file. The mixed-container page explains how the load is built, and the Liberia page lists what stays the same on every offer.

How to start

Send the references from the product pages, the quantity per line and the destination port. The written offer follows within two working days, the case weight and the minimum stated for each.

Samples come free from our running production; the courier is on your account and paid before dispatch. The liberia: what stays the same on every offer page lists what stays the same on every offer, and the private label page covers putting your own name on the pack.

Does the Turkish producer register in Liberia?

No. The importer files the declaration and holds the registration; we supply the data sheet, certificates and analysis report per line, named in the offer.

When is the declaration filed?

Before the goods are shipped, by the importer, with the documents we send before the deposit; nothing is loaded before it is in place.

Is the container a reefer?

For chocolate lines, yes, year round on this route. Compound lines and dry lines are quoted as the offer states.

How to order

Send the list. We do the rest.

Send your product list with approximate quantities and the destination port. You get one offer covering every line, then one container, loaded and photographed before the doors close.
