Turkish chocolate, Dubai-style bars, pistachio lokum and kadayıf for importers and wholesalers in Hungary

One mixed container from Gaziantep, Türkiye, into Hungary: pistachio and kadayıf bars, pistachio lokum, chocolate dragées, confectionery and pistachio spread — in bulk cartons for the nagykereskedés and the cukrászati kellék trade, and in retail packs, on an A.TR movement certificate, with the label content prepared in Hungarian.

Cases of chocolate, dragées and Turkish delight consolidated for one container in Gaziantep
Who we quote for

One container, every line, from Gaziantep.

Hungary is a mid-sized European buyer with a settled supply map. On the most recent full year it imported about five hundred and eighty-eight million dollars of chocolate and roughly a hundred and forty-four million dollars of sugar confectionery. In chocolate Türkiye was the eleventh source at about one and a half per cent — small next to Germany, Poland and Slovakia. But the share is the less interesting number. Türkiye's chocolate enters Hungary at close to fifteen dollars a kilo, the highest unit value among the leading suppliers, where Germany sits near nine and a half and Slovakia near seven and a half.

That single figure sets the frame for a first order. Türkiye is not arriving here as cheap volume; it is arriving as filled and speciality lines — the bar with pistachio and kadayıf, lokum with whole pistachio, dragées sorted by colour. Coming to us for a price break on a plain tablet is the wrong conversation, and we would rather say so before the first offer than after it.

On the sugar confectionery side the picture is different and more settled: Türkiye is the fourth source at about four and a half per cent, behind Belgium, Poland and Germany. That is a working trade with a route already proven, and for most first containers it carries the volume while the chocolate lines carry the difference.

We supply direct from our own factory in Gaziantep, the city we work in.

  • Food importers and distributors that clear their own entries and supply grocery chains, ho.re.ca. and specialist shops across the country, buying several lines on one packing list.
  • Édesség nagykereskedés and cash-and-carry — the wholesale trade supplying shops, kiosks and petrol forecourts — buying by the carton, with bulk jellies and dragées for the weighed counter.
  • The cukrászati kellék trade: the pastry-supply shops and web shops that serve confectioners and home bakers. This is the largest measured business channel in Hungary and the one where the line between our range and everything else matters most — pistachio spread, kadayıf, dragées and bulk lokum fit; couverture, chocolate pastilles and chocolate sold by the kilo do not.
  • Turkish and oriental grocery, a channel that exists here under its own name in Budapest and the larger towns, already moving lokum, baklava, tahini and pistachio products.
  • Hungarian brands and retailers that want the same products under their own name — the route is set out on the private label page.

Hungary notes

What stays the same on every offer.

Rates and rules change; the quotation states what applies on the day. These points do not change.

Entry and the trade agreement
Hungary is in the EU and Türkiye is in the customs union with the EU, so processed food of Turkish origin moves on an A.TR movement certificate rather than a free-trade origin proof. The certificate travels with the shipment and the offer names it per line. Rates and lists change; the offer states what applies on the day, and we supply the documents behind it.
The label is Hungarian
What goes on the pack is decided by the company that first places the goods on the Hungarian market — that is the importer, not the exporter. We supply the ground for it: our technical data sheet per line, the ingredient list and allergens, net weight, and the customs tariff heading. Your labelling office or your own team writes the Hungarian text from that.
Who the label names
The address on the pack is yours, not ours. Certificates — food safety, halal and kosher — are held for our factory; copies are available on request. A line without a certificate is named as such.
Where Türkiye actually sits
Eleventh in chocolate by share, but first among the leading suppliers by unit value: close to fifteen dollars a kilo. Fourth in sugar confectionery at about four and a half per cent. Read together, those two numbers say the same thing — the Turkish lines that travel well to Hungary are the filled, the speciality and the sugar-confectionery lines, not the plain tablet.
The pastry-supply trade, and its limits
The largest measured business demand in Hungary sits with the cukrászati kellék shops. Part of our range fits them squarely: pistachio spread in jars, kadayıf, chocolate dragées and sugared almonds in bulk cartons sorted by colour and calibre, filled bars, and bulk lokum in two to three kilo inner units. Part of it does not: couverture, chocolate pastilles, chocolate by the kilo, raw nuts, dried fruit, cocoa and empty packaging are outside our standing range. They are sourced on request, and we confirm composition and format before quoting — or say no plainly.
What the jar is called
Hungarian search splits the jar in two: pisztáciakrém and pisztácia paszta. They are not the same product. What we supply is the spread — sweetened, for the shelf and the breakfast table. The hundred-per-cent unsweetened pastry paste is not part of our standing range; it is sourced on request. We mention the searched name because that is how buyers find it, but the name is corrected in the offer and on the label, because the wrong name brings the wrong buyer and wastes the first sample.
Dubai-style bars and pistachio
The bar is pistachio spread with crisp kadayıf in a coating. Both of those come from Gaziantep, which is why the line is a current item in our production rather than a novelty run. The offer states the pistachio percentage per line and whether the coating is chocolate or a cocoa glaze.
Coating and what may be called chocolate
A vegetable-fat glaze may not be labelled chocolate in the EU. Some bars in this style carry a cocoa glaze and some carry real chocolate, and the difference is invisible in a photograph. We state which it is per line and the technical data sheet says so before anything goes to print.
Favours for wedding and christening guests
Guests in Hungary are sent home with a small favour, and the demand behind esküvői köszönőajándék and bonbonier is steady and year-round rather than seasonal. The line that fits is the dragée: sugared almonds and chocolate dragées in bulk cartons, sorted by colour and by calibre. We supply the carton that fills the favour, not the finished favour — the tulle, the box and the ribbon are assembled on your side. Colours and calibres are confirmed per line before we quote, and the minimum is per line, so a first order can carry three or four colours.
Much of the biggest demand is outside our range
The largest Hungarian food searches around Turkish sweets are baklava, tahini and halva, and most of the baklava demand is recipe intent rather than buyer intent. None of the three is part of our standing range. They are sourced on request, with composition and format confirmed before quoting. We would rather say that than quote against it.
Temperature and the season
Chocolate and chocolate-coated lines travel at +18/+20 °C. For a mixed container in the warm months we offer a reefer; if you prefer a dry container the temperature risk passes to you, in writing, before loading. Lokum, sugared almonds and jellies travel dry all year, so the offer states the regime per group rather than for the load as a whole.
Route and currency
Hungary is landlocked, so the load arrives by road, or by sea to a nearby port and onward by road. The routing is stated in the offer for the order in hand rather than promised in advance. Prices are quoted in US dollars; the domestic shelf price is yours to set in forint.
Halal and kosher
We name the issuing body and the scheme per line, and the copy is available on request. The certificate is held for our factory. A line without one is named as such rather than covered by a general claim.
Outside the range
Couverture, bulk chocolate by the kilo, raw nuts, dried fruit, cocoa, empty packaging, baklava, halva and tahini sit outside our standing range. They are sourced on request: we take your specification to production, confirm composition and format, and come back with what can actually be supplied — or a clear no. Either answer comes in writing within two working days.

Questions

Asked before the first list.

Do you work with importers and wholesalers in Hungary?

Yes — food importers and distributors, édesség wholesalers and cash-and-carry, the cukrászati kellék trade, Turkish and oriental grocery, and Hungarian brands wanting their own label. Tell us which you are and the offer is built for that shelf.

Do we need an A.TR?

Hungary is in the EU and Türkiye is in the customs union with the EU, so processed food of Turkish origin moves on an A.TR movement certificate. It travels with the shipment and the offer names it per line; the offer also states what applies on the day, because lists and rates change.

Is the pistachio jar a paste or a spread?

A spread. Hungarian search splits it into pisztáciakrém and pisztácia paszta and we mention both because that is how buyers find it — but the name is corrected in the offer and on the label. The hundred-per-cent unsweetened pastry paste is not part of our standing range and is sourced on request.

Can a cukrászati kellék shop buy from you?

For part of the range, yes: pistachio spread, kadayıf, dragées and sugared almonds in bulk cartons by colour and calibre, filled bars and bulk lokum. Couverture, chocolate pastilles and chocolate by the kilo are outside the standing range and are sourced on request, with composition and format confirmed before quoting.

Do you supply baklava, tahini or halva?

Not as part of the standing range, and they are among the largest searches here, so it is worth being clear. They are sourced on request: we confirm composition and format before quoting, and then the item travels in the same container as the rest.

Can you supply dragées for wedding favours?

Yes, in bulk cartons sorted by colour and calibre — sugared almonds and chocolate dragées. We supply the carton, not the assembled favour: the tulle, box and ribbon are put together on your side. The minimum is per line, so one order can carry several colours.

How does the load travel in summer?

Chocolate and chocolate-coated lines travel at +18/+20 °C. In the warm months we offer a reefer; with a dry container the temperature risk passes to the buyer, in writing, before loading. Lokum, sugared almonds and jellies travel dry all year.

What is the minimum and how is it paid?

The sales unit is a full container or trailer and we do not ship partial loads, but the minimum is counted per line, so one load can carry six or seven lines in modest quantities. Payment is half with the order and half before the container leaves, against loading photographs.

Is Antep Foods a chocolate manufacturer in Türkiye?

Yes. Antep Foods is a manufacturer and exporter in Gaziantep, exporting since 2002. Production takes place in our own factory; certificates and data sheets are issued for our factory. Wholesale only; prices come in a written offer, not on the site.
