One list, one container, and a road leg after the port

A first container into Burkina Faso is decided by a list rather than by a volume. You name the lines you want on the shelf, and the container is what that list weighs once format, case weight and temperature are settled. One local fact shapes the answers: the load finishes by road. What follows is how one is assembled from a standing start.

Let the list decide the volume

Two shelves sit behind that list and they are not the same size. On what the country declared for 2024, chocolate imports came to 441,498 US dollars and sugar confectionery to 3,238,903, with Türkiye eighth in chocolate at 2.51 per cent and tenth in confectionery at 1.52 per cent.

As a purchasing instruction: weight the first load towards confectionery the market already turns over, and put a short, named set of chocolate lines beside it as a test. One container carries both, so the choice is not made in advance.

Which lines go on the list

The range is chocolate, dragées, Turkish delight, wrapped confectionery and spreads in jars, and a first list normally draws from several. The measured French demand points at one group: of 746 phrases counted, those clearing a twenty-a-month threshold come to roughly 120 a month, and each is a dragée bought for a wedding.

English adds 307 phrases and roughly 190 a month above the same threshold, led by a pastry word at 110, none of it in buying language. Figures that small give direction rather than traffic.

Format is a separate row, and it moves the price

Line and format are chosen one after the other. The same product exists as a bulk carton, a kilo bag for a counter, a printed retail box for a shelf, a single-portion wrap for the occasion trade, and a jar where the product is a spread.

Each format carries its own case weight, minimum and lead time, so each sits on its own row rather than disappearing into a single price. Colour belongs in that column too: a dragée colour is a production run, so the minimum per colour is written into the offer.

The road after the port decides what shares the box

There is no seaboard here: the container is discharged at a port in a neighbouring country and finishes inland by road. Chocolate and chocolate-coated lines go in a reefer through the warm months, while Turkish delight, dragées and jellies ride dry in the same box.

Tell us before we quote whether the last leg is cooled. Where a line has to survive ambient conditions, a compound coating is often the honest answer, and it is then named a compound on the data sheet and on the pack. In the European Union such a coating may not be labelled chocolate at all.

What the carton says, and who answers for it

The panel carries the mandatory information in French, with English beside it where your shelf wants it: product name, ingredients with allergens declared, net weight in metric, the importer’s name and address, and the date marking. For own-label lines the content comes from our technical data sheet, and nothing is printed before you approve it.

The file travels the same route: the offer names where the container enters, who moves it inland, which transit papers go with it and where the goods are declared, with the origin document and the rules in the form that applies on the day. Certificates are issued for our factory, and the importer files the entry.

Confirm these, and the container gets built

From your side a short list settles the load: the lines you want priced, the format for each, an indicative quantity, the delivery point, and whether the pack keeps our standard pack or carries your brand. Name the importer of record too, since the entry sits there.

What comes back is written: price, case weight, lead time, delivery term. We quote FCA Gaziantep,FOB Mersin, CIF or DAP; Gaziantep to Mersin is about three hours by road. Couverture, bulk chocolate by the kilo, raw nuts, cocoa, baklava and tahini are sourced on request; we confirm composition and format before quoting. Send the list, and the first container is built fromit.

We are landlocked. Does that change how the container is loaded?

It changes the planning more than the loading. The box is discharged at a port in a neighbouring country and finishes inland by road, so the offer names the entry point, the inland leg, the transit papers and where the goods are declared, and your clearing agent confirms what applies on the day. The road leg also decides temperature: chocolate goes in a reefer through the warm months, while Turkish delight, dragées and jellies ride dry beside it.

Should a first container be weighted towards confectionery?

On the declared 2024 figures it usually should. Sugar confectionery imports came to 3,238,903 US dollars against 441,498 for chocolate, so the sweet shelf is the one already moving here. That is a reason to load confectionery lines in quantity and to place a short, named set of chocolate lines beside them rather than to leave chocolate out, since one container carries both.

What do you need from us before you can quote?

The product references, the format for each line, an indicative quantity, the delivery point, the importer of record named on the pack, and whether the label keeps our standard pack or carries your brand. Tell us as well whether the last leg to your warehouse is cooled. The answer comes back in writing, line by line, with.

How to order

Send the list. We do the rest.

Send your product list with approximate quantities and the destination port. You get one offer covering every line, then one container, loaded and photographed before the doors close.
