Chocolat Dubaï in Morocco: the bar, what is inside it and where it is made

The bar that Morocco searches for as chocolat Dubaï is a chocolate shell over pistachio cream and toasted kadayif. It became famous from Dubai and the name stuck, but the commercial question that followed is a different one: who makes it in volume, with how much pistachio in it, and in which formats a wholesaler can actually buy. This page answers from the supplier's side.

The name says where it became famous

The bar is a chocolate shell over a filling of pistachio cream with toasted kadayif, the pastry thread that gives it the crunch. It became famous from Dubai, which is where the name comes from. The commercial question arrived straight after: who can make it in volume, and at a price a shelf will carry.

In most cases the answer is not Dubai. The two ingredients that define the bar, the pistachio and the kadayif, come from around Gaziantep in south-eastern Türkiye, and that is where the bar is made and shipped from.

What is inside, and why it is asked

The pistachio percentage varies from producer to producer, which is why the offer states the specification per line rather than a general claim: pistachio percentage, bar weight, shelf life and pack format.

There is also a labelling point worth settling before printing. A compound-coated version cannot be described the same way as one covered in real chocolate, and the offer states per line which it is, so the label content is prepared correctly the first time.

Three formats

The retail bar for the shelf, in our standard pack or under your brand; the gift box for the seasons and the corporate trade; and the jar of pistachio cream with kadayif paste in bulk, for the pastry houses and chocolatiers that make their own version rather than buying it finished.

In Morocco the third is not a footnote. The pastry trade is large and buys ingredients, not finished bars, which makes the cream and the paste a line worth quoting alongside the bar itself.

Temperature and the shelf

Chocolate and chocolate-coated lines are quoted in a reefer for the warm months on this route; Turkish delight, sugared almonds, jellies and pistachio products travel dry, and both can share one container.

The offer states the port, Casablanca or Tanger Med, the delivery term and the transit, along with the case weight and the pallet plan per line.

What travels with it

A first container rarely carries one line. Pistachio tablets, boxed Turkish delight, the pistachio roll, dragées for the wedding trade and wrapped confectionery for the everyday shelf usually travel in the same shipment, because they share an origin and a set of documents.

What to send

The references, the quantity per line and the port; every line is specified in the offer and the minimum.

The references from the chocolate page, the dragée page and the Turkish delight page, the quantity per line, the port, Casablanca or Tanger Med, and whether any line carries your own brand. The written offer follows within two working days and the label content prepared in Arabic or French; the samples page explains how to taste the lines first.

Is chocolat Dubaï made in Dubai?

The name points to where the bar became famous. The pistachio and the kadayif come from around Gaziantep, and that is where the bar is made and shipped from.

Can the bar carry our brand?

Yes — private label is one of our core services. The label content is prepared in Arabic or French and nothing is printed before you approve it.

Do you sell the filling separately?

Yes. Pistachio cream in jars and in bulk, and kadayif paste, are quoted for pastry houses and chocolatiers that make their own version.
