The chain
A supermarket, a boutique, a hotel shop or the duty-free counter buys chocolate by the carton from a distributor; the distributor buys by the pallet from an importer, or imports for itself; the importer brings the container into Port Louis with the movement certificate under the free trade agreement. That is the link we quote: a food importer or a distributor filling one mixed container from Gaziantep, each line on its own pallet, with the paperwork settled before the deposit.
What the free trade agreement changes
There is a free trade agreement in force between Mauritius and Türkiye, and chocolate and confectionery travel with the movement certificate it provides for; what applies to each line on the day is stated in the offer, not on this site, because it changes. What it means for an importer is a landed cost that a European or a Gulf competitor on the same shelf does not have, on the same pistachio bar; the offer puts the number in front of you before you order.
The premium shelf
Mauritius buys the top of the range, and the Turkish lines that already reach the island reflect it: the pistachio tablet, the Dubai style bar with pistachio and kadayif, boxed Turkish delight and the mini-bar assortment for the hotels, the duty-free counter and the boutiques, next to the everyday tablet for the supermarket. The chocolate page, the pistachio page and the Turkish delight page list each group.
A small island, a mixed container
A container is a large unit for an island this size, and that is the reason the container is mixed: five product groups on one order, chocolate, dragées for the wedding trade, Turkish delight, wrapped sweets and pistachio lines, each on their own pallet, so an importer does not have to move a full load of one line. The route crosses the tropics in every season, so chocolate lines are quoted in a reefer year round; dragées, jellies and Turkish delight travel dry. The mixed-container page explains how the load is built.
Price, and what is not printed here
Chocolate price in Mauritius is a shopper’s search; the trade’s answer is in the offer: the price per line in US dollars, the case count, the pallet plan, the tariff line and what applies under the free trade agreement on the day. Nothing that changes with the exchange rate or the season is printed on a page, so a distributor is never quoting from a number that has since moved.
What to send first
The lines from the chocolate page, the dragée page and the Turkish delight page, the quantity per line, and whether any line carries your own brand. The written offer follows within two working days, in US dollars and the free trade paperwork listed; the samples page explains how to taste the lines first, and the Mauritius page lists what stays the same on every offer.
Every line here is made in our own factory at Başpınar OSB, Gaziantep — a 10,000 m² site, exporting since 2002 — and certificate copies are available on request.
Can a boutique or a hotel shop buy directly from Türkiye?
The unit of sale is one full container. A shop buys by the carton from the distributor that imports it; a hotel group or a distributor that fills a container is quoted like an importer.
Is there duty on chocolate from Türkiye into Mauritius?
There is a free trade agreement in force and the goods travel with its movement certificate; what applies to each line on the day is stated in the offer.
Is the container a reefer?
For chocolate lines, yes, year round on this route. Dry lines travel dry; a mixed load is quoted as the offer states.
