The favour
Five sugared almonds in tulle is the oldest wedding favour in the Mediterranean, and it reached Mauritius with the French, then met the island’s own traditions: the sweets of a Hindu wedding, the chocolate of a Muslim one, the favour box of a beach wedding planned from abroad. Today the favour company sells sugared almonds by colour, chocolate dragées in milk, dark and white, coated nuts and mini bars with the couple’s names on the sleeve. The dragée page lists the groups.
By colour, by the carton
Sugared almonds come one colour per carton or mixed, in the whites, ivories, golds and pastels the wedding trade asks for; chocolate dragées and coated nuts in a matching range. The case weight per line is stated in the offer, so a favour company knows how many tables a carton dresses before it orders, and the colours can be run to your own palette on selected lines under the private label page, with the cartons carrying your name.
The hotels
Mauritius hosts the weddings of people who arrive with a suitcase, and the resort plans the favours; a hotel group that dresses hundreds of weddings a year buys dragées by the carton the way it buys everything else, from its importer, and can put them in a box under its own name. Sugared almonds keep well and travel dry; chocolate dragées and mini bars go in the reefer, year round on this route, and need a cool room until the day.
Who buys the container
A favour company buys by the carton from a distributor or an importer; the importer fills the container, under the free trade agreement, with the dragées on their own pallet next to chocolate, Turkish delight and sweets, so a distributor that serves the wedding trade adds the favour lines to an order it was making anyway. A hotel group or a large favour company that fills a container is quoted like an importer.
Price, and what is not printed here
The price per line in US dollars, the case count, the pallet plan and the tariff line are in the offer, with what applies under the free trade agreement on the day; nothing that moves with the exchange rate or the season is printed on this site. What a favour company sells the dressed table for is its own craft; what the almonds cost by the carton is in the offer before it orders.
What to send first
The lines from the chocolate page, the dragée page and the Turkish delight page, the quantity per line, and whether any line carries your own brand. The written offer follows within two working days, in US dollars and the free trade paperwork listed; the samples page explains how to taste the lines first, and the Mauritius page lists what stays the same on every offer.
Every line here is made in our own factory at Başpınar OSB, Gaziantep — a 10,000 m² site, exporting since 2002 — and certificate copies are available on request.
Can a favour company order directly?
The unit of sale is one full container, mixed across lines. A favour company buys by the carton from the importer or distributor; a hotel group or a large favour company that fills a container is quoted like an importer.
Which colours?
One colour per carton or mixed, in the range the wedding trade asks for; the offer lists the colours and the case weight per line.
Do sugared almonds need a reefer?
No, they travel dry. Chocolate dragées and mini bars travel in the reefer with the chocolate lines, year round on this route.
