Door gifts in Brunei: dragées by colour, mini bars and gift boxes, by the carton, from Gaziantep

A Bruneian wedding sends every guest home with a gift, and Hari Raya fills the table and the office with boxes. The trade that dresses those gifts buys by the carton. Here is what it buys, how the cartons are filled in Gaziantep, and how a door-gift company or an importer buys them.

The door gift

A wedding in Brunei is large, and every guest leaves with something in hand: a box of dragées, a pair of mini bars with the couple’s names on the sleeve, a small jar. The door-gift companies that dress those boxes buy chocolate dragées in milk, dark and white, sugared almonds by colour, coated nuts and mini bars by the carton, and they buy Hari Raya assortments and boxed Turkish delight for the season. The dragée page lists the groups, and the door gift Malaysia article covers the same trade next door.

By colour, by the carton

Dragées come one colour per carton or mixed, in the whites, golds and the strong colours the wedding trade asks for; coated nuts and mini bars in a matching range. The case weight per line is stated in the offer, so a door-gift company knows how many guests a carton dresses before it orders, and the colours can be run to your own palette on selected lines under the private label page, with the boxes carrying your name.

Halal on every line

A door gift is eaten by a thousand guests, and in Brunei every one of them expects the halal mark. Every line with an ingredient of animal origin travels with our halal certificate and the certifying body named, so the door-gift company or its importer checks the recognition before the deposit; the label carries the mark where it applies. Lines without such ingredients, sugared almonds among them, are stated as such on the data sheet.

Hari Raya and the calendar

Hari Raya comes once a year and the weddings cluster around the school holidays, so a door-gift company plans the whites and golds for the year and the season’s colours a container ahead. The Ramadan and Eid ordering article goes through the timing from Gaziantep; the offer states the lead time per line and the transit to Muara. Dragées and coated nuts go in the reefer, year round; sugared almonds travel dry.

Who buys the container

A door-gift company buys by the carton from a wholesaler or an importer; the importer fills the container. Because the container is mixed, dragées travel on their own pallet next to chocolate, Turkish delight and wrapped sweets, so a wholesaler that serves the wedding trade adds the door-gift lines to an order it was making anyway. A large door-gift company that holds the permit and pools a container is quoted like an importer, with the price per line in US dollars and the duty that applies on the day in the offer.

What to send first

The lines from the chocolate page, the dragée page and the Turkish delight page, the quantity per line, and whether any line carries your own brand. The written offer follows within two working days, in US dollars, with the halal certifying body named per line; the samples page explains how to taste the lines first, and the Brunei page lists what stays the same on every offer.

Can a door-gift company order dragées in its own colours and boxes?

Yes, on selected lines: we run the colours you name and the boxes carry your brand. The minimum per colour is stated in the offer.

Are the dragées halal?

Every line with an ingredient of animal origin travels with our halal certificate and the certifying body named; sugared almonds carry no such ingredient and are stated as such.

What is the minimum?

One full container, mixed across lines. A door-gift company that does not fill one buys by the carton from the importer that does, or pools an order.
