Importing chocolate and confectionery to Kuwait from Türkiye: the Gulf label, halal per line and the reefer

An importer wants to know what to hold and what the supplier must send before a container clears at Shuwaikh. Here is the split from the supplier’s side, with the label first, because the Gulf label is the part most often done wrong.

The Gulf label

Arabic on the label, with English alongside if you want it: the name of the food, the ingredient list with allergens, metric net weight, storage, the importer’s name and address, and the production and expiry dates printed on the pack in production rather than added on a sticker. For lines in our standard packs we confirm what the export pack carries before the deposit; for private label we prepare the content from our data sheet and you approve the artwork before printing. The Kuwaiti private label page goes through it.

Halal, line by line

Lines with ingredients of animal origin, gelatine in jellies above all, travel with our halal certificate, and the offer names the certifying body per line so the importer can check that the Kuwaiti authority recognises it before ordering. Lines without such ingredients are stated as such on the data sheet. Where a certificate is asked for that we do not hold, the offer says so before the deposit, not after the container has sailed.

Who holds what, and the duty

The importer holds the commercial licence and the registration with the food authority, and clears the consignment at the port, where it is checked. As the Turkish producer we do not register in Kuwait; we supply the data sheet, our certificates and the analysis report per line. Kuwait applies the Gulf common customs tariff and there is no free trade agreement with Türkiye; the offer states the tariff line and the duty that applies on the day, and nothing about duty is printed on this site.

Documents, the route and the reefer

The commercial set is the invoice, the packing list per pallet, the certificate of origin, the analysis report and, for pistachio lines, an aflatoxin certificate, listed on the how we work page, with the halal certificates per line where they apply. Sea freight from Mersin to Shuwaikh or Shuaiba, with the transshipment port and the transit stated in the offer; a road route is quoted on request. Chocolate lines are quoted in a reefer year round; dry lines travel dry. The mixed-container page explains how the load is built.

The timeline

Label and certificates first, then the deposit, then production, then the reefer. An importer that has cleared our lines once clears the next lines faster, because the data sheets, the halal certificates and the label content are already on file. Because the label content is settled before the deposit, we print the dates at the run and the pack that leaves Mersin is the pack that goes on the shelf, with no relabelling at the port; that is the single largest saving on this route. The Kuwait page lists what stays the same on every offer.

Asking for a price

What we need to price it: the lines you want from the product pages, how much of each, and where it lands. Two working days later the written offer comes back with the specification, the case weight and the minimum per line.

A sample goes out before any of that if you want to taste the lines first — free from running production, courier at your cost. The kuwait: what stays the same on every offer page lists what stays the same on every offer, and the private label page covers putting your own name on the pack.

Does the Turkish producer register in Kuwait?

No. The importer holds the licence and the food-authority registration; we supply the data sheet, certificates and analysis report per line, named in the offer.

Can the dates go on a sticker?

No. Production and expiry dates are printed on the pack in production, as the Gulf standard asks; the label content per line is confirmed before the deposit.

Is the container a reefer?

For chocolate lines, yes, year round on this route. Dry lines travel dry; a mixed load is quoted as the offer states.

How to order

Send the list. We do the rest.

Send your product list with approximate quantities and the destination port. You get one offer covering every line, then one container, loaded and photographed before the doors close.
