Slovenia: when there is no search channel

There is an honest way to open a market page and a dishonest one. The dishonest one invents demand and writes to it. What the measurement found in Slovenia was an empty search box. So this page is not written to be found in Slovene — it is written to prepare an offer.

What the Slovene search actually shows

Slovene business-to-business search in this category is zero. The terms a wholesaler, an importer or a private-label buyer would type — in Slovene, from Slovenia — carry no measurable monthly demand. What the language does carry is domestic baking: piškoti at about 2,900 searches a month, masleni piškoti at about 1,900. Those are people after a recipe, not a pallet.

The result page says the same from the other side: searched in Slovene, this category returned a single domain, a page with almost nothing on it. No competition in search usually means no search.

Search volume does not measure a market

The conclusion most people draw from that is the wrong one, so say it plainly: search volume measures a language habit, not the size of a market. Slovenia imports chocolate and sugar confectionery every year in quantities unrelated to how many Slovene keywords get typed. This market is read off the import table, not the keyword tool.

Nor is the search box how a buyer here finds a supplier. Purchasing works from trade directories, from a fair floor, from a name a colleague passes on, and from direct approach — then judges what lands in the inbox. The channel is the offer itself.

The minimum is per line, not per container

The sales unit is a full container or a full truck; there is no part load. But the minimum that matters is set per line and written into the offer — not per container. That is what makes a first order workable: six or seven references in measured quantity rather than a wall of one item.

Each line travels on its own pallet, under one packing list and one movement certificate. Slovenia is in the EU, so processed confectionery moves under the customs union on an A.TR movement certificate; the quotation states what applies on the day it is issued.

Temperature decides how the container is booked

Chocolate and chocolate-coated lines travel at +18 to +20 °C. In the hot months a refrigerated container is what gets offered; if a dry one is preferred anyway, the temperature risk passes to the buyer in writing, before loading.

The rest of the range is easier to plan. Lokum, sugared almonds and the other dragées, gelled sweets and popping candy go dry all year. In a mixed load the regime is agreed group by group.

What is in the jar, and what the coating may be called

The pistachio product in a jar is a spread, not a cream, and not a pastry paste: it is not the 100 per cent confectioner's paste a kitchen buys to flavour a filling. That paste sits outside the main range and is looked at on request, with composition and format confirmedbefore a quotation.

A labelling point travels with the filled bars: under EU rules a coating made with vegetable fat cannot be labelled chocolate. Bars in the pistachio-and-kadayıf style are made both ways, so the offer states per line which it is. Certificates are issued for its name; copies are available on request.

What to send

Send the references with a quantity against each, the delivery address or port, and whether the goods go into retail packs or bulk cartons for a weigh-out counter, since that decides the carton. Name the loading month, and say what the label has to carry for the Slovene shelf.

The written offer follows within two working days, line by line: technical specification, ingredients and allergens, net weight, carton and pallet data, minimum and tariff heading. Payment is 50 per cent at order and 50 before the container leaves, against loading photographs.

If nobody searches in Slovene, is the market too small to bother with?

No — the two things are unrelated. Search volume reflects how a language is used online, not how much a country imports. Slovenia buys chocolate and sugar confectionery from abroad every year regardless of what is typed into a search box, and the import table is where that is read.

Does a mixed container raise the minimum?

No. The minimum is set per line and written into the offer, not per container. That iswhat allows a first order to carry six or seven references in measured quantity, each on its own pallet, under one packing list.

Is the pistachio jar the same product a pastry kitchen buys?

No. What we supply is a spread for a jar, not the 100 per cent pistachio paste used to flavour fillings. That paste is outside the main range and can be looked at on request, with composition and format confirmed before a quotation is issued.

How to order

Send the list. We do the rest.

Send your product list with approximate quantities and the destination port. You get one offer covering every line, then one container, loaded and photographed before the doors close.
