Ten phrases, and not one of them is a trade query
The shape of the list matters more than its length. The ten phrases that clear twenty a month are written the way a shopper writes, not the way a buyer writes; search the trade wording instead and the measurement comes back empty above the same threshold.
That is not proof that nobody buys confectionery here, only that the buying does not pass through a search box: the few importers who fill these shelves know their suppliers and reorder by e-mail. A page has to be useful after an introduction, not before it.
The same demand, counted twice
One honest note about the measurement, because it changes the size of the prize. The list records turkish delight and lokum turkish delight as two rows, twenty searches a month each. Add them and the category reads forty — one question asked in two wordings. We take the larger row and mention the other rather than stacking them.
What we decline to count is part of the decision. A figure inflated at the measuring stage is inflated again when it becomes an order quantity, and somebody owns pallets the shelf never asked for.
A name that needs no explaining
Twenty searches a month buys something an advertising budget normally pays for: evidence that the category name is already understood locally. Nobody types a name that has to be explained to them first, so on the gift, souvenir and supermarket shelf the pack is not teaching before it sells.
The product side is plain: Turkish delight plain and chocolate-covered, hazelnut and pistachio varieties, the pistachio roll. Two formats, chosen by the shelf: printed retail boxes for gift and souvenir, bulk cartons sold by weight for the counter and the weigh-out. All of it travels dry — the easy half of a container on this route.
Written for the offer, not for the ranking
Search the trade terms here and no Barbadian domain appears. "Turkish delight wholesale" returns exporters in Türkiye; the rest of the page belongs to wholesalers in the United States and the United Kingdom. The shelf here is quoted from somewhere else, and a container loaded in Gaziantep removes one step from that chain.
So this page is not written to rank. It is written so a quotation can be prepared in one exchange: which lines, which format, which minimum, who makes each one. The minimum sits on the line, set per line, not on the container — a first load can carry several references in measured quantities rather than one in a volume nobody has tested.
CARICOM, and no preference paper
Barbados sits inside CARICOM, so entry follows the national rules together with the common market framework and the importer clears the goods. There is no trade agreement between Barbados and Türkiye, and no A.TR movement certificate applies, so nothing preferential travels with the load. Duty lines move, so we print none: the quotation names the tariff heading per product and states what applies on the day it is issued.
Route, temperature, and what to send
Gaziantep to Mersin is about three hours by road, so consolidation happens beside the producers; from Mersin the box sails to Bridgetown on the term you choose — FCA Gaziantep, FOB Mersin, CIF or DAP. The island is warm in every season, so chocolate and chocolate-coated lines are quoted in a reefer year round while lokum, dragées and jellies ride dry. A vegetable-fat coating is named compound or glaze, never chocolate; the jar line is a spread, not a pastry paste.
Send the shelf you are filling, the lines you want to test and the pack format for each; the answer comes back in writing, line by line. Items outside the range — couverture, bulk chocolate by the kilo, raw nuts, dried fruit, cocoa, empty packaging — are sourced on request; we confirm composition and format before quoting.
Is twenty searches a month worth acting on?
Not as a traffic plan, yes as a signal. It tells you the category name is understood on the island, so the shelf conversation starts at format and price instead of at what the product is. The order still arrives through an introduction and a written quotation.
Why not add the two Turkish delight phrases together?
Because they are one demand written two ways. Summing them would report forty where the measurement supports twenty, and that error carries straight into the quantity somebody orders. We take the larger row and note the second.
Does anything preferential apply on entry in Barbados?
No. Barbados is a CARICOM member and there is no trade agreement with Türkiye, so no A.TR movement certificate or preference document travels with the goods. The quotation names the tariff heading per line and states what applies on the day it is issued; the importer clears the container.
