A close language saves a round, not the check
The difference between an edit and a retranslation is where the file starts. With a distant language the label goes out, comes back, and is then read again by someone who knows food law. Between Turkish and Azerbaijani the first draft is legible to both sides, so the conversation moves straight to wording.
That is where the saving stops. Legibility is not compliance. Product name, ingredient list, allergens, net quantity, storage conditions and the responsible company are read against national rules, in Azerbaijani, by the party who answers for the goods once they are on sale.
Whose name goes on the pack
The company that first places a food on the Azerbaijani market appears on the label by name and address. In our set-up that is the importer, not the exporter. The declaration, conformity with national food legislation and the approval of the Azerbaijani text sit on the importer’s side.
It is settled before artwork, because it fixes whose address goes on the film. Our part is to leave the importer nothing to guess: every word in the mandatory panel comes out of our technical specification and travels in writing — see how we work.
What travels from the supplier side, line by line
Per line we send our technical specification, ingredients and allergens, net weight, the batch analysis report, the commercial invoice, the packing list by pallet and the customs tariff heading. Line by line, because a container carries several producers and one specification is not another’s.
Copies of our food safety, halal and kosher certificates are available on request. Those certificates are for our factory. Copies are available on request. On duty, the quote states what applies on the day.
The product name is settled before anything is printed
Two naming questions decide the label, and both are cheaper before print. The first is the coating: it may be chocolate, or it may be a vegetable-fat glaze. A vegetable-fat glaze is not chocolate and is not named as chocolate. The quote states, per line, which one the item carries.
The second is the pistachio jar. The word buyers search may be pasta, but what we supply is a spreadable cream for the retail shelf — not a 100% patisserie paste for a pastry kitchen. Two products, two label texts, two buyers; the intended use is confirmed before design starts.
Private label, written approval, and a near language’s false confidence
On private label the packaging and label content change. We prepare the text from our technical specification, the importer checks it against national rules and approves it, and nothing goes to print without written approval — see private label.
The trap is the other face of the advantage. A word that looks the same in both languages can carry a different legal meaning: a category name, a storage phrase, an additive designation. Because the draft reads easily it invites skimming — which is how a wrong category name reaches the film. So the panel is read line by line.
Pallets, temperature and what to send
Each line rides on its own pallet, under one packing list. The minimum is set per line and written into the quote, so a first order can carry six or seven items in measured quantities — see mixed container. Chocolate and chocolate-coated lines travel at +18/+20 °C, so in the warm months a refrigerated container is what we quote; if a dry container is preferred the temperature risk passes to the buyer in writing before loading. Turkish delight, sugared almonds and jelly sweets go dry all year.
What to send: the lines and a rough quantity for each, retail or bulk packs, whether the label is the producer’s or your own, any Azerbaijani panel you already use, the destination and the target window. The quote comes back within two business days, line by line.
Can the Turkish pack text just be used in Azerbaijan?
It is usually a good starting draft, and that is where the saving comes from. It is not the finished label: the mandatory information has to appear in Azerbaijani and is checked against national rules by the importer before approval.
Whose name appears on the label as the responsible company?
The company that first places the goods on the market — the importer. We are named as the manufacturer, and any food safety, halal or kosher certificate stays for our factory; copies are available on request.
Who prepares the Azerbaijani label on a private-label order?
We prepare the text from our technical specification, the importer checks it against national food legislation and approves it in writing, and only then does anything go to print.
