What a land border changes: short transit and small mixed loads for Georgia

Georgia shares a land border with Türkiye, and the run from Gaziantep is among the shortest on this site. On a first, cautious order that is worth more than a discount. A short route makes a small mixed load practical, and in the hot months it turns temperature exposure from weeks into days.

Home  /  Blog  /  Georgia is a land neighbour, and a short overland route does more for a cautious first order than a discount does.  ·

What a land border actually changes

Most first orders stall on arithmetic, not on taste. The buyer wants six references to test, the supplier sells by the full load, and the gap gets filled with a discount nobody enjoys giving.

A short overland route closes that gap differently. Money sits in the goods for less time, the shipping calendar stops dictating the order date, and a modest quantity per line can be repeated soon after rather than standing as a year of stock.

Where Türkiye already stands on the Georgian shelf

This is not an empty table for Turkish goods. Türkiye is the fourth source of chocolate into Georgia, at roughly 7.6% of imports, and the third source of sugar confectionery, at close to 12.8%. Russia and Ukraine sit ahead on both lists.

The more useful figure is unit value. Turkish chocolate arrives at about $5.07 a kilo, against roughly $3.70 for Russian and $9.84 for Polish — the middle rung, above the volume price and below the gift-counter price. That is where a line has to sit here. More on the Georgia market page.

What actually travels

The load for this shelf has a recognisable spine. Turkish delight at the pistachio end — whole pistachio, double-roasted, kadayıf-wrapped — in bulk and in retail boxes. The pistachio-and-kadayıf bar in the Dubai style. Chocolate dragées and sugared almonds specified by colour and calibre. Jelly beans and popping candy in bulk cases for weigh-and-pay shelves. Pistachio cream in jars.

One correction, because the search term misleads: what we sell is a spreadable retail cream, not a high-percentage pâtissier paste. Couverture, bulk chocolate by the kilo, raw nuts and dried fruit sit outside the main range — sourced on request, with composition and format confirmedfirst.

The minimum is counted per line — and so is the paperwork

Our sales unit is a full container or a full truck; there is no groupage. But the minimum is set per line and written into the offer, not per container — which is why a measured first load can carry six or seven items. Each line rides on its own pallet, under a single packing list: that is how a mixed container is put together.

On the Georgian side, the declaration is filed by the importer. What leaves from here is the commercial invoice, the packing list, the transport document, and per line our technical specification. Certificates are held for our factory, for our factory; we name theholder line by line and pass on copies. The customs tariff position is listed per line, and the offer states what applies the day it is issued.

Temperature by group, and a label in Georgian

Chocolate and chocolate-coated products travel at +18/+20 °C. In hot months a refrigerated load is offered; if a dry one is preferred for cost, the temperature risk passes to the buyer in writing, before loading. Turkish delight, sugared almonds and jelly lines go dry all year. Split the order into a sensitive group and a stable group: over a route this short, summer exposure is counted in days.

The label is Georgian, in the Georgian alphabet — a typesetting decision taken at the start, not a translation pasted in at the end. Artwork is built with a font that carries the script, so ingredient blocks and net weights fit the panel. Content comes from our technical specification, and under your own brand nothing goes to print without written approval — see private label for Georgia.

What to send

For a written offer, send retail formats and net weights, an indicative quantity per line, dragée colours and calibres if gift boxes are in the plan, whether the Georgian label runs under your brand or ours, the loading month and the delivery city.

We reply in two working days, in writing, line by line. Payment is 50% at order and 50% before the load leaves, against loading photographs. The rest of the sequence is on the how we work page.

Can a first order carry several products at once?

Yes, and that is the usual shape here. The sales unit is a full container or a full truck, but the minimum is counted per line rather than per container, so a first load normally carries six or seven items in measured quantities, each on its own pallet under one packing list.

Can chocolate travel to Georgia in summer?

Yes, at +18/+20 °C in a refrigerated load. If a dry load is preferred for cost, the temperature risk passes to the buyer in writing before loading. Turkish delight, sugared almonds and jelly lines go dry all year, and the overland route keeps exposure short either way.

Does the label have to be in Georgian?

Plan for it. The retail label is set in Georgian using the Georgian alphabet, typeset from the outset with a font that carries the script, and its content is prepared from our technical specification. Under your own brand, artwork goes to print only after your written approval.
