A community member, outside the common market
The Community and its common market are two memberships, and The Bahamas holds the first without the second, which means no regional regime stands behind a Bahamian entry: the rules deciding whether a carton is admitted, how it must be described and who answers for that description are national ones.
Which matters most to the buyer with a working arrangement one island away, because the habit formed there is reuse: same artwork, same attached file, a new consignee. That habit produces a set close enough to look finished and incomplete exactly where it is read.
Two layers: one travels, one is rewritten
Our layer travels. The technical specification for the line, its ingredient and allergen data, net weight, storage and date marking, carton and pallet figures, and our certificates: none of it changes because the destination changed.
The destination layer is rewritten. The mandatory label panel as the arrival market requires it, the company named on the pack as the one placing the goods, the entry itself, and any permit or registration a particular line needs. A panel built for another island names another island’s company, and that one field is enough to make the pack wrong on arrival.
Three parties, and who signs what
The importer is the declarant. The Bahamian company of record files the entry, holds whatever registration a line requires, and answers for the description given. No supplier holds that position on its behalf, and none should offer to.
We supply the technicalfile. Specifications, analysis reports and certificates are issued for our factory, not for a distributor. Copies are available on request.
We prepare the label content against the rules of the arrival market, then check it against your artwork before anything is printed.
Two documents that are not on this route
Buyers comparing Turkish suppliers sometimes arrive with a checklist collected from another destination, and two items on it are struck through here. The movement certificate that accompanies Turkish goods into the European Union has no function on a Bahamian entry, and neither does the conformity marking used across the Eurasian markets.
Duty and tax figures belong in a quotation, not in an article: they are read on the day of clearance. The quotation names the tariff heading proposed per line and states what applies on the day it is issued.
Two islands, one file, two panels
Read the right way, the separation works in the buyer’s favour. Supplying a second island is not starting over: the producer’s file is assembled once and travels with the line, and only the destination layer is rebuilt. The saving is specific — the technical work, not the artwork and not the entry.
Planned in that order, a second island costs a label revision. Planned the other way, by reprinting the first island’s pack and hoping, it costs a consignment standing still while a panel is corrected.
What to send so the file can be built
Five things let us write rather than guess: the lines you want quoted; the format for each, bulk carton, retail box or jar; the port of arrival, Nassau or Freeport; the importer of record whose name and address appear on the pack; and whether the label keeps our standard pack or carries your brand, in which case nothing goes to print without written approval.
The answer comes back in writing, line by line: specification, ingredients and allergens, net weight, carton and pallet data, the minimum for that line, and the proposed tariff heading. We quote FCA Gaziantep, FOB Mersin, CIF or DAP; Gaziantep to Mersin is about three hours by road (how we work). Anything outside the range is sourced on request, with composition and format confirmed before quoting.
Can we reuse the document set our supplier prepared for another island?
Not unchanged. The Bahamas is in the Caribbean Community but outside its common market, so entry runs on national rules. Our technical file travels with the line; the label panel, the company named on the pack and the entry itself are prepared for this destination.
Who files the entry, you or us?
You do. The Bahamian importer of record is the declarant and answers for the description given. Our part is the supply side of it: the technical file forwarded, the label contentdrafted against the rules of the arrival market and checked against your artwork.
Is there a movement certificate for Turkish goods arriving in The Bahamas?
No document of that kind applies on this route — the movement certificate used into the European Union and the Eurasian conformity marking both belong to other destinations. The quotation names the proposed tariff heading per line and states what applies on the day it is issued.
