A table filled by people who do not live there
Across a resident population, $15.7 million is a modest grocery line. Across arrivals it is something else: a gift, a welcome amenity, a boxed souvenir, an item billed to a room.
The person behind an enquiry is rarely a grocery category manager. More often it is a resort purchasing desk, a food and beverage manager writing a banquet specification, or a duty-free operator choosing what sits at eye level in a departure hall. Each buys for a different moment, and judges presentation before price.
The decision is not taken in a search box
The search side was measured first, and argues the same way. The market shows 1,976 phrases around the category, but only 18 carry more than twenty searches a month, and the whole business-to-business tail — wholesale, distributor, supplier, importer — comes to roughly 80 a month. The one consumer term with weight is the pistachio-and-kadayıf bar, near 110.
Nobody sources a resort's confectionery by typing a query. The specification is drafted in a purchasing office and answered in writing, so this page answers specification questions, not search terms.
One sweet, several formats, several channels
Take one line — lokum with a whole pistachio in the centre, or a dragée sorted by colour. It leaves the factory in several shapes, each for a different room:
- a gift box with a printed sleeve, for duty-free or a hotel retail corner;
- a tray pack, opened in a kitchen and plated for banquets;
- a single-portion wrap, one piece per wrapper, for turndown service and conference rooms;
- a minibar item, small and sealed, billed to a room;
- a souvenir carton, printed to be carried onto a plane.
One recipe, five jobs. Name the product but not the format and you are quoted whatever is already running — that is how a good line lands in the wrong room.
Format is a production question, asked rather than promised
This page will not claim all of those can be made. Format is a line question: it depends on the wrapping equipment a producer runs, the tooling a box needs, and whether a piece can be wrapped individually at all.
A format change is not a packing choice made at loading — it is a different line, with its own minimum, written into the quotation. So the answer to can this be done as a single-portion wrap is that we check it on the line and reply in writing; where a format sits outside what the line runs, we say so.
What the format changes further down
Two things travel with it. The label is first: a gift box carries a full mandatory panel, a single-portion wrapper cannot, so what goes on the piece and what on the outer carton is settled at artwork stage. Naming matters most there: a vegetable-fat coating is a cocoa glaze and cannot be called chocolate, and the quotation states which each line carries. The jar is a spread, not a pastry paste.
Heat is the second. Chocolate and chocolate-coated lines travel at +18 to +20 °C, not a seasonal question in this climate: that half of a load is quoted refrigerated as the normal case. Lokum, dragée and jelly go dry all year, and take a gift or tray format most easily.
What to send
The frame is national: the islands apply their own import rules and the importer files the entry. Duty figures are not for a supplier page to state; certificates are issued for our factory,the holder named per line.
Send the channel first — hotel, resort, banquet, minibar or duty-free — then the lines, the format for each, an indicative quantity, the port of arrival, and whether the label carries your own brand; nothing goes to print without written approval. A written answer follows in two working days; we quote FCA Gaziantep, FOB Mersin, CIF or DAP.
Can the same sweet be supplied both as a gift box and as a single-portion wrap?
Sometimes, but it is never assumed. Each format depends on the wrapping equipment and box tooling our line actually runs, so we check the format on the line and answer in writing. Send the format with the enquiry and the quotation is built around it.
Is the minimum quantity set per container or per line?
Per line. The sales unit is a full container or a full truck with no part loads, but each line carries its own minimum, written into the quotation. A format is part of what defines the line, so a gift box and a single-portion wrap of the same recipe are quoted as two lines.
Is the pistachio jar the same product a pastry kitchen buys?
Usually not. The jar line is a spread — sweetened and spoonable, for retail and for filling — not a 100% pastry paste. Pastry-grade paste sits outside the core range and is sourced on request; we confirm composition and format before quoting.
