Belarus already has lokum. The gap is at the pistachio end.

Walk a Minsk grocery aisle and Turkish lokum is already there — shelved by name, marked производства Турции, priced as an everyday sweet rather than a curiosity. Search results say the same. So a container of plain rose-and-lemon lokum is a late move; the room that is left is narrow, and it sits at the pistachio end of the range.

Home  /  Blog  /  Belarusian retail already sells Turkish lokum by origin — so the room a new container can take is at the pistachio end of the range.  ·

Plain lokum is not the opening argument

Belarusian retail does not need to be told what lokum is. It is listed, priced and re-ordered, with the origin printed on the facing. Mirror figures for 2024 — partner countries' reported exports, not Belarusian customs — put Turkey first in sugar confectionery at 46.18% and third in chocolate at 17.19%. Read the ranking, not the total: mirror data is reliable about who is present and unreliable about how much.

That changes the pitch. Nobody here needs an introduction to Turkish sweets; the only question worth the meeting is which Turkish sweet is not on the shelf yet.

The pistachio end: three things the shelf usually misses

Whole pistachio lokum. The nut stays whole and shows in the cut face — not milled into the paste, not a green tint. A customer decides on the cross-section before tasting.

Double-roasted lokum (çifte kavrulmuş). Not a flavour claim but a different process: firmer, drier, chewier than the soft everyday piece, and it does not compete with what is already listed.

Kadayıf lines — shredded pastry wrapped around the piece or worked into it, crisp against soft. Three separate listings, not three names for one product, and each comes in bulk and in retail boxes.

Why the producer already makes these

Gaziantep is where the pistachio and the kadayıf both come from. That is not a marketing sentence; it is why these are standing catalogue items rather than special runs. The nut supply and the pastry workshops sit in the same city as the boiling pans, so a pistachio-heavy line is ordinary production there.

It also shapes the order. The minimum is per line, written into the offer — not per container — so a first order can carry six or seven items in measured quantities instead of one item in a wallof pallets.

The dubai-style bar: couverture or glaze

Pistachio cream with crisp kadayıf, coated. Before any artwork is drawn, one question must be answered line by line: is the coating couverture chocolate, or a cocoa-containing glaze made with vegetable fat? A glaze is not chocolate and cannot be named as chocolate on the label — the composition dictates the wording.

The offer states which one each line uses, with our technical specification behind it. On private label the rule holds twice over: nothing goes to print without written approval.

What else travels, and when

Around the lokum: chocolate dragées and sugared almonds, chocolate-coated nut and fruit centres, gummies and popping candy in bulk cartons for the weigh-out shelf, pistachio cream in jars.

About that jar — the Russian search term is «фисташковая паста», but that name mostly means 100% pastry paste sold by the kilo to confectioners. Our jar holds a spreadable cream: different product, different shelf. The 100% paste is not in the main range; it is sourced on request, with composition and format confirmed before a quotation.

Season decides the equipment: chocolate and chocolate-coated bars travel at +18/+20 °C, so in hot months a refrigerated container is offered; if a dry container is preferred the temperature risk passes to the buyer in writing before loading. Lokum, dragées and gummies go dry all year.

Compliance, and what to send us

Belarus is in the Eurasian Economic Union: imported food follows the Union's food-safety and labelling technical regulations and carries the EAC conformity mark, with the declaration of conformity held on the importer's side. The label is in Russian. From our side each line travels with our technical specification, ingredients and allergens, net weight, batch analysis report and customs tariff heading; the offer states what applies on the day it is issued.

To get a priced answer, send three things: the shelf slot you are filling (retail box or weigh-out bulk), the pistachio lines to quote, and whether the dubai-style bar is couverture or glaze. Each line ships on its own pallet under one packing list — one container, several lines.

Should plain lokum be in the order at all?

It can be, as the volume base of the pallet, but it is not the reason a buyer opens a new listing. The lines that earn shelf space are whole pistachio, double-roasted and kadayıf. Both sit in the same order, since the minimum is per line.

Is the jar of pistachio cream the same as pistachio paste?

No. The jar is a spreadable cream for the retail shelf. The 100% pistachio paste searched as «фисташковая паста» is a confectioner's ingredient sold by the kilo — it is not in the main range and is sourced on request, with composition confirmed before a quotation.

Who holds the EAC conformity declaration?

The importer does. We supply what the declaration is built on: our technical specification, ingredients and allergens, net weight, batch analysis report and customs tariff heading. Certificates are held for our factory; copies are available on request.
