EAEU labelling and the EAC mark: the division of labour before the first container

Most delays on a first container are not decided at the border. They begin weeks earlier, in a document nobody thought to ask for — a specification, a batch report, one line of label copy. Writing the division of labour down before the first shipment to Belarus removes most of them.

Home  /  Blog  /  Who prepares what for an EAEU label and the EAC mark — the importer's side, our side, and the papers that decide the date.  ·

What stays on the importer's side

Belarus is a member of the Eurasian Economic Union, and imported food follows the Union's technical regulations on food safety and labelling. The consequence for a first order is simple: the party that places the goods on the market carries the conformity work. The importer holds the declaration of conformity, the pack carries the EAC conformity mark, and the importer's name appears on the pack.

That is not a task an exporter can take over, and no exporter should suggest otherwise. What we can do is make sure nothing on your side is waiting on us. Requirements and duties move; the quotation states what applies on the day.

What travels from our side, line by line

Everything we send is organised per production line, because one container usually carries several lines. For each line you receive our technical specification, the ingredient list and allergens, the net weight, the batch analysis report, the commercial invoice, a packing list built pallet by pallet, and the customs tariff heading.

Copies of our food safety, halal and kosher certificates are available on request. Those certificates are issued in our factory's name. We pass the document on.

The label is Russian, and it comes from the specification

Label text for Belarus is prepared in Russian. It is not a translation of a sales leaflet: it is drafted from our technical specification, so that the ingredients, allergens, net weight and storage conditions printed on the pack match the document standing behind them. Where the two disagree, the specification wins and the artwork changes.

Nothing goes to print without written approval. You read the text, you confirm it in writing, and only then is a plate made. That single rule prevents the most expensive mistake in the chain — a pallet of printed film that cannot be used.

Private label, in the order it actually happens

Private label runs on selected lines and on our confirmation. The sequence is fixed: we confirm the line and the pack format, we confirm the minimum for that line, we build the label content from the specification, you approve text and artwork in writing, and only then is production scheduled. Minimums are set per lineand written into the quotation.

The full flow is set out in private label for Belarus, and mixed container explains how several lines share one shipment.

A coating is either chocolate or cocoa glaze

One naming point settles the label copy before anyone opens a design file. A coating made with vegetable fat is not chocolate and cannot be named as chocolate on the pack — it is a cocoa glaze. Both exist across the range and both are perfectly sellable; what is not acceptable is calling one the other.

So the quotation says, for every line, which of the two the coating is. That one sentence lets your label copy and your declaration file be drafted once rather than twice, and it keeps the question out of the week before loading.

What to send

For a written quotation within two working days, send: the lines you are interested in — chocolate and filled bars, dragees and sugared almonds, Turkish delight, jelly in bulk cases, pistachio cream in jars; the format you want for each, retail box or bulk; the destination city; whose name goes on the pack; and whether the order is private label.

You get back, line by line: technical specification, ingredients and allergens, net weight, case and pallet data, minimum per line and tariff heading — the same set your declaration is built from. The sequence is described in how we work, and the market picture in Belarus.

Who holds the declaration of conformity for Belarus?

The importer does. The party placing the goods on the market keeps the declaration and the supporting file; our role is to supply, per line, our documents that file is builtfrom.

Do you apply the EAC mark for us?

No. The EAC mark belongs to the conformity work carried out on the importer's side. We provide the specification, ingredients and allergens, net weight, batch analysis report and tariff heading, and we build the Russian label text from the specification once you confirm it in writing.

Can a bar with a vegetable-fat coating be labelled as chocolate?

No. That coating is a cocoa glaze and has to be named as one. The quotation states for each line whether the coating is chocolate or cocoa glaze, so the label copy is drafted correctly the first time.

How to order

Send the list. We do the rest.

Send your product list with approximate quantities and the destination port. You get one offer covering every line, then one container, loaded and photographed before the doors close.
