The days that begin after discharge
From the port the box is trucked across at least one border that is not yours and declared where it comes to rest, not where it landed. Those extra days are spent on a road rather than in a cold store.
Chocolate and chocolate-coated lines are quoted in a reefer through the warm months. Turkish delight, dragées, wrapped confectionery and jellies travel dry and take the road better, and both can share one container. Tell us which season the inland leg falls in before we quote.
Four terms, and where each one stops
FCA Gaziantep hands the goods over loaded at origin. FOB Mersin carries them to the port of loading, about three hours from our factory by road, so the stretch we control is short. CIF coversthe sea leg and stops at a coastal port outside your country, the overland run still ahead. DAP is the only one of the four naming an inland destination.
Ask for the same list on two terms and read the gap: it is the road leg, priced now instead of invoiced later. Either way the offer names the port of discharge and the border crossing assumed.
The source table is also a route table
The 2024 figures here are mirror data: this market does not report its own imports, so the columns are what everyone else recorded as shipments here. Read them as a direction, not a settled number, and with the road in mind: goods entering overland can be recorded against the country where they first landed.
Chocolate comes to about 2,232,161 US dollars, Türkiye first at roughly 65.08 per cent, Egypt 11.3, India 5.0. Sugar confectionery is far larger at about 10,827,884 dollars and runs almost entirely from one distant direction: India 90.1 per cent, Türkiye 4.53, Egypt 4.1. Both arrive through a port and a truck; what differs is how many hands the carton passed through first.
Two declarations, neither of them ours
Your clearing agent files the transit movement inland from the port of discharge. The importer who holds the registration declares the consignment and answers for the description; no supplier occupies that seat for you.
Our side is the file both desks must accept: the technical data sheet, our certificates, the analysis report. Certificates are issuedfor our factory; we name the certifying body and send copies on request, and linescarrying gelatine travel with our halal certificate. The origin document and theapplicable rules are named in the offer, which states what applies on the day.
The panel travels in French
Mandatory content is prepared in French, with English or Arabic alongside where your file requires it: name of the food, ingredients with allergens, metric net weight, storage conditions, the importer’s name and address, the date marking. Producer-brand lines are confirmed against what the export pack carries; own-label content is built from our technical data sheet, and yourartwork is checked before printing.
Two words stay apart in every language: a line coated in vegetable fat is a compound or a glaze, and in the European Union it cannot be labelled chocolate. The jar line is a spread.
What to send so the route can be priced
Send the lines you want quoted and the format for each, bulk carton, retail box, doypack or jar, with an indicative quantity, the port of discharge, the inland delivery point, and whose brand the pack carries.
Ask for that list on two terms, DAP against CIF, so the road leg arrives as a figure you can compare. One container carries lines from our own factory on one order and onedocument set (mixed container). Couverture, bulk chocolate by the kilo, raw nuts, dried fruit, cocoa, baklava, halva and tahini are sourced on request, with composition and format confirmed before quoting (how wework).
We are inland. Which delivery term actually reaches our warehouse?
DAP is the one of the four that names an inland destination, so it prices the road leg instead of leaving it open. CIF stops at a coastal port in another country with the overland run still ahead of you, while FCA Gaziantep and FOB Mersin hand over earlier and suit a buyer whose own forwarder controls the corridor. Ask for the same list on two terms and compare what moves.
The goods land in a neighbouring country. Who files what?
Your clearing agent files the transit movement from the port of discharge inland, and the importer who holds the registration declares the consignment and answers for the description given. From our side you receive the technical data sheet per product, our certificates, the analysis report per lineand, with the origin document and the applicable rules named in the offer inthe form valid on the day.
Which language does the label carry, and who prepares the content?
French for the mandatory information, with English or Arabic alongside where your file or your shelf wants it: name of the food, ingredients with allergens, metric net weight, storage conditions, the importer’s name and address, and the date marking. The content is built from our technical data sheet; youplace it in your artwork and add the importer’s details, and on own-label runs you approve the final version in writing before printing.
