Chocolate wholesale in Libya: the everyday shelf, chocolate or compound, and the container behind the cartons

Libya is one of the largest markets in the world for Turkish chocolate, and almost all of it arrives as a container from a Turkish exporter to a Libyan importer. Here is that chain from the supplier’s side, and who in it buys the container.

The chain

A grocery, a supermarket, a kiosk or a sweets shop buys chocolate and sweets by the carton from a wholesaler in Tripoli, Misrata or Benghazi; the wholesaler buys by the pallet from an importer, or imports for itself; the importer brings the container into Misrata, Benghazi, Khoms or Tripoli. That is the link we quote: a food importer or a wholesale house filling one mixed container from Gaziantep, each line on its own pallet, with the Arabic label and the paperwork settled before the deposit.

Chocolate or compound

Most Libyan shops have no cooling for a good part of the year, and a bar that softens on the shelf is a bar the shopkeeper will not reorder. Turkish confectionery already holds that shelf on price and on tolerance to heat: the wafer, the wrapped bar, the compound-coated line, wrapped sweets by the kilo bag and the jelly. The offer states per line whether it is chocolate or compound, so an importer puts the right line in the grocery and the right line, in a reefer, on the supermarket shelf. The chocolate or compound article goes through the difference.

What the shelf that pays more wants

Above the everyday lines there is a second shelf: the pistachio tablet, the Dubai style bar with pistachio and kadayif, boxed Turkish delight, dragées by colour and gift boxes for weddings and Eid. It is smaller in volume and larger in margin, and it travels in the same container on its own pallets. The chocolate page, the dragée page and the Turkish delight page list the groups.

Price, and what is not printed here

The price per line in US dollars, the case count, the pallet plan, the tariff line and the duty that applies on the day are in the offer, together with the banking route that applies on the day. Nothing that changes with the exchange rate, the duty or the season is printed on this site, so a wholesaler is never quoting from a number that has since moved.

Who fills the container

The unit of sale is one full container. A wholesaler that moves pallets fills one on its own and is quoted like an importer, with the import licence and the registration on its side; a smaller reseller buys by the carton from the wholesaler that does. A group of resellers that pools an order is quoted like an importer too, each buyer’s cartons on their own pallets. The mixed-container page explains how the load is built.

What to send first

The lines from the chocolate page, the confectionery page and the dragée page, the quantity per line, the port, Misrata, Benghazi, Khoms or Tripoli, and whether any line carries your own brand. The written offer follows within two working days, in US dollars, with the certifying body named per line; the samples page explains how to taste the lines first, and the Libya page lists what stays the same on every offer.

Can a grocery or a kiosk buy directly from Türkiye?

The unit of sale is one full container. A grocery buys by the carton from the wholesaler that imports it; a group that pools a container and holds the licence is quoted like an importer.

Do you sell compound-coated lines?

Yes, and the offer says so per line, so the warm shop shelf gets a line that tolerates the heat and the supermarket gets chocolate in a reefer.

Which port?

Misrata, Benghazi, Khoms or Tripoli; the offer names the port, the transshipment and the term.

How to order

Send the list. We do the rest.

Send your product list with approximate quantities and the destination port. You get one offer covering every line, then one container, loaded and photographed before the doors close.
