What first place on a small table actually proves
Comoros is a small shelf: the two lines together stayed under a million and a half dollars in 2023. On a table that size one container is a visible share of the year, and nobody holds 28.7% of it by accident. Someone imported, a shop took it, it sold, the order repeated — across Grande Comore, Anjouan and Mohéli.
That is worth naming, because it is the costliest part of entering a market. The taste is accepted, the price band is accepted, and nobody has to explain to a shopkeeper what Turkish chocolate is. What is left is narrower and cheaper to solve: rhythm, spread of lines, and who loads them.
The larger bill is the one barely touched
Sugar confectionery — wrapped candies, jellies, dragées, sugared almonds, coated nuts, Turkish delight — was the bigger of the two bills at $958,831, nearly double the chocolate figure. Türkiye’s share of it was 2.5%, seventh place.
Read the two rows together and the shape of the opening changes. It is not a volume question; there is no hidden second million waiting on these islands. It is a range question. The familiarity that carries one category is already built, and it sits next to a larger category where almost none of it has been spent.
Same producers, same pallets, one packing list
The gap can close quickly because closing it is not a new supply chain. Both categories come out of the same production town and ship on the same pallets, in the same box, on the same booking.
So the second category costs a line on the packing list — not a second shipment, not a second freight bill. One note on loading: chocolate and chocolate-coated lines are quoted in a reefer for the warm months and a tropical discharge, while Turkish delight, sugared almonds, jellies and wrapped candies travel dry. Both sit in the same container.
What the buyer sees before a factory
Search the category from here and a factory is not what appears. In Arabic the results fill with the online retail windows of the Gulf; no local seller surfaces. In French they fill with wholesalers in France and Spain. In English they return trade-statistics pages, not suppliers.
Every one of those sits at least one step downstream of the factory, and each step carries a margin. Loading at origin removes the step: the lot is checked before packing, the pallets are photographed before the doors close.
Route, terms and the origin document
Gaziantep to Mersin is about three hours by road; from Mersin the cargo goes by sea, and the call is not a direct one. The offer names the transshipment port, the port of discharge, Moroni or Mutsamudu, the delivery term (FCA Gaziantep, FOB Mersin, CIF or DAP) and the transit.
No preferential framework is assumed here: the origin document and the rules that apply are named in the offer per product and travel with the document set. Duty figures are not printed here because they move; the offer states the tariff line and what applies on the day.
What to send so we can quote
Four things let us write rather than guess: the lines you want, the format for each — bulk carton, retail box or jar — the port of discharge, and whether the pack keeps our standard pack or carries your brand. Label content is prepared in French or Arabic as your file requires, and checked against your artwork before printing.
The answer comes back in writing, line by line (how we work). Anything outside the range — couverture, bulk chocolate by the kilo, raw nuts — is sourced on request, with composition and format confirmed before quoting.
Türkiye is already first in chocolate here — what is left to add?
Range rather than volume. The 2023 record puts Turkish chocolate first at 28.7% of a $498,379 table, while the larger sugar confectionery table, $958,831, shows Türkiye seventh at 2.5%. Wrapped candies, jellies, dragées, sugared almonds and Turkish delight come from the same factory and load onto the same pallets.
Can chocolate and sugar lines travel in one container?
Yes. Chocolate and chocolate-coated lines are quoted in a reefer for the warm months and for a tropical discharge; Turkish delight, sugared almonds, jellies and wrapped candies travel dry. Both can be loaded in the same box, with case weight stated per line in the offer.
What duty applies on arrival?
Nothing about duty is printed on this site, because it changes. No preferential framework is assumed on this route: the origin document and the rules that apply are named in the offer for each product, and the offer states the tariff line and what applies on the day it is issued.
