The customs union
Malta is in the EU, and Türkiye and the EU are in a customs union. Chocolate and confectionery travel with an A.TR movement certificate issued in Türkiye, which covers the industrial part of the goods; what applies to the agricultural component, the sugar and the dairy in the recipe, is stated in the offer for the day. Nothing about duty is printed on this site, because it changes; the landed cost is in the offer, before the order. The certificate is issued for every shipment the same way, so the second container needs nothing the first did not.
Who holds what
The importer is registered as a food business with the food safety authority and stays responsible for what it places on the market. As the Turkish producer we do not register in Malta; we supply the documents the entry needs. Where a line contains dairy, as milk chocolate does, the EU rules for composite products apply and the attestation the entry needs is drawn up from our documents; the offer states which lines that touches.
The EU label
An English label to the EU food information rules, with Maltese alongside if you want it: the ingredient list with allergens emphasised, the nutrition declaration per 100 g, metric net quantity, the best before date, storage, and the name and EU address of the food business responsible for the product. For lines in our standard packs we confirm what the export pack carries and what the importer adds; for private label we prepare the content. The Maltese private label page goes through it.
Documents, sea or road, and the reefer
The commercial set is the invoice, the packing list per pallet, the A.TR certificate, the analysis report and, for pistachio lines, an aflatoxin certificate, listed on the how we work page. Sea freight from Mersin to Malta with the port and the transit stated in the offer; a road trailer through Europe with the ferry from Italy is quoted on request. Chocolate lines are quoted in a reefer for the warm months and dry lines travel dry. The mixed-container page explains how the load is built.
What comes from our factory, and the timeline
The technical data sheet with ingredients, allergens, shelf life and storage; our certificates; the analysis report per lot; the documents the composite-product attestation is drawn up from for the dairy lines; and the label content. All of it is named per line in the offer and sent before the deposit, so the importer’s registration and the attestation run first and are not counted in the lead time. Documents first, then the deposit, then production, then the load; an importer that has cleared our lines once clears the next lines faster. The Malta page lists what stays the same on every offer.
How to start
A first message is short: references from the product pages, quantities, port. The offer that comes back is not — it carries the specification, the pallet plan and the minimum, line by line.
Samples are free from our running production and the courier is paid before dispatch. The malta: what stays the same on every offer page lists what stays the same on every offer, and the private label page covers putting your own name on the pack.
Is there duty on chocolate from Türkiye into Malta?
The goods travel under the customs union with an A.TR certificate; what applies to the agricultural component is stated in the offer for the day, not on this site.
Does the Turkish producer register in Malta?
No. The importer is the registered food business; we supply the data sheets, certificates and the documents the composite-product attestation is drawn up from.
Sea or road?
Both are quoted: sea freight from Mersin to Malta, or a road trailer through Europe with the ferry from Italy on request. The offer states the route, the term and the transit.
