Importing chocolate and confectionery to Sudan from Türkiye: the Arabic label, halal per line, the standards check and Port Sudan

An importer wants to know what to hold and what the supplier must send before a container clears at Port Sudan. Here is the split from the supplier’s side, with the label first, because the label is what the standards check reads first.

The Arabic label

Arabic on the label, with English alongside if you want it: the name of the food, the ingredient list with allergens, metric net weight, storage, the importer’s name and address, and the production and expiry dates printed on the pack in production rather than added on a sticker. For lines in our standard packs we confirm what the export pack carries before the deposit; for private label we prepare the content from our data sheet and you approve the artwork before printing. The Sudanese private label page goes through it.

Halal and the standards check

Lines with ingredients of animal origin, gelatine in jellies above all, travel with our halal certificate, and the offer names the certifying body per line. Imported food is checked against the Sudanese standard at the port; our technical data sheet, our certificates and the analysis report per line travel with the container so the check has what it asks for. Where a certificate is asked for that we do not hold, the offer says so before the deposit.

Who holds what, and the duty

The importer holds the import licence and the registration with the authorities, and clears the consignment at Port Sudan. As the Turkish producer we do not register in Sudan; we supply the documents per line, sent before the deposit so the importer’s side runs first. There is no free trade agreement in force between Sudan and Türkiye; the offer states the tariff line and the duty that applies on the day, and the banking route that applies on the day, and nothing about either is printed on this site.

Documents, shipping and the reefer

The commercial set is the invoice, the packing list per pallet, the certificate of origin, the analysis report and, for pistachio lines, an aflatoxin certificate, listed on the how we work page, with the halal certificates per line where they apply. Shipping from Turkey to Sudan is by sea from Mersin to Port Sudan, with the transshipment and the transit stated in the offer. Chocolate lines are quoted in a reefer year round and stated as chocolate; compound lines and dry lines travel dry. The mixed-container page explains how the load is built.

The timeline

Label and certificates first, then the deposit, then production, then the reefer. An importer that has cleared our lines once clears the next lines faster, because the data sheets, the halal certificates and the label content are already on file. Because the label content is settled before the deposit, we print the dates at the run and the pack that leaves Mersin is the pack that goes on the shelf, with no relabelling at the port. The Sudan page lists what stays the same on every offer.

What to send

Send the references from the product pages, the quantity per line and the destination port. The written offer follows within two working days, the case weight and the minimum stated for each.

Samples come free from our running production; the courier is on your account and paid before dispatch. The sudan: what stays the same on every offer page lists what stays the same on every offer, and the private label page covers putting your own name on the pack.

Does the Turkish producer register in Sudan?

No. The importer holds the licence and the registration; we supply the data sheet, certificates and analysis report per line, named in the offer.

Can the dates go on a sticker?

No. Production and expiry dates are printed on the pack in production; the label content per line is confirmed before the deposit.

Is the container a reefer?

For chocolate lines, yes, year round on this route. Compound lines and dry lines are quoted as the offer states.

How to order

Send the list. We do the rest.

Send your product list with approximate quantities and the destination port. You get one offer covering every line, then one container, loaded and photographed before the doors close.
