Reading a market from the other side
When the buying country publishes nothing, the standard method is mirror data: you add up what every other country declared it sent there. Each shipment is recorded twice, by the seller and by the buyer, so one record stands in for the missing one.
What comes back is a shape, not a ledger: which categories move, roughly how large they are, and which origins keep reappearing — not which shelf the goods reached.
What the 2024 mirror shows
In the 2024 mirror, sugar confectionery arriving in Turkmenistan is worth about 2.8 million dollars, and Türkiye is the leading origin with 37.51 per cent. Chocolate is the bigger line at roughly 10.3 million dollars, with Türkiye second at 24.04 per cent.
Those are the highest Turkish shares anywhere in this series of market pages. The useful reading is not the ranking but what sits under it: Turkish confectionery is already familiar to the broker, the forwarder and the shop, so the origin needs no introduction from zero.
Where the mirror bends
Mirror data has known defects, and this one shows plainly. The largest chocolate share in the 2024 mirror, 43.82 per cent, belongs to a neighbouring country that does not manufacture chocolate at that scale. That is the signature of transit: goods consolidated in a regional hub, re-exported, and recorded against the last shipping country rather than the factory.
The error runs both ways: re-export inflates one origin, while a partner that reports late or partially shrinks another. Regional grocery flows also follow long-established routes through Russia and across the Caspian, a structural feature of the region's logistics. The number is therefore not offered as settled; what it supports is narrower and more durable: origin and category are established here.
From a share to an order
None of that changes how an order is built. The unit of sale is a full container or a full truck, and the minimum is per line, not per container: each manufacturer sets the smallest run it will make of its own item, and the quotation writes that figure beside the line.
Combining lines fills the container, which is why a first shipment can carry six or seven items in measured quantities rather than one. Every line travels on its own pallet under one packing list, so each item is costed separately.
Temperature, coating, and what is in the jar
Chocolate and chocolate-coated lines travel at +18/+20 °C. For warm months a refrigerated container is quoted; if a dry container is preferred, the temperature risk passes to the buyer in writing before loading. Turkish delight, sugared almonds and jelly sweets go dry all year.
Two naming points settle more disputes than price. A coating made with vegetable fat is a cocoa glaze and cannot be declared as chocolate where the rules define that word, so the quotation names it line by line. And the pistachio jar is a spread, not a cream and not the 100 per cent patisserie paste used for filling; that paste sits outside the main range, and composition is confirmed before quoting.
What to send
Turkmenistan is not a member of the Eurasian Economic Union, so the country's own food and customs rules apply and the importer files the declaration. An EAC mark does not clear goods here, and we publish no duty rates: the quotation states what applies on the day it is issued.
Send the lines you want with a target quantity for each, the destination and border crossing, retail boxes or bulk cases, and your labelling language. A written quotation follows within two working days, line by line: specification, ingredients and allergens, net weight, case and pallet data, minimum and tariff heading. Certificates are issued for our factory: copies are available on request. The steps are in how we work.
Why does this page rely on mirror data?
Because Turkmenistan does not publish import statistics. Mirror data — what other countries declared they exported there — is the only continuous series available for the category, so we use it and state plainly where it is weak instead of presenting it as a settled figure.
Does a high Turkish share make customs easier?
No. A share only indicates that the origin and the category are established in the market. The declaration is the importer's, under the country's own rules, and the quotation states what applies on the day it is issued.
Can a first order carry several different items?
Yes. The minimum is set per line by each manufacturer rather than per container, so one mixed load can hold six or seven items in measured quantities. Each line travels on its own pallet under a single packing list.
