Chocolate company in Ghana: the cocoa country’s own industry, and what a Turkish container adds to it

The largest chocolate searches in the country are about Ghana’s own industry, and rightly so. This article is not about competing with it. It is about what a container from Gaziantep adds to a shelf that already has good cocoa chocolate on it.

The cocoa country

Ghana grows some of the best cocoa in the world and makes its own chocolate from it, and the searches for chocolate brands in Ghana and the price of chocolate in Ghana are about those bars. We do not quote against them on the everyday bar, and an importer that tries to sell an imported milk bar against the local one on price is starting on the wrong foot. What we quote is what the cocoa country does not make, and the shelf has room for it next to the local bar.

What the cocoa country does not make

The pistachio end first: the pistachio tablet, the Dubai style bar with pistachio and kadayif, pistachio cream in jars and chocolate coated pistachio dragées, because the pistachio grows around Gaziantep and nowhere near Accra. Then the wedding trade: sugared almonds by colour and chocolate dragées by the carton, which come off a coating pan a chocolate company does not run. Then Turkish delight, which is not chocolate at all and travels dry. The pistachio page, the dragée page and the Turkish delight page list the groups.

What a Ghanaian chocolate company can buy

A chocolate company in Ghana that wants to widen its range without building a pistachio supply or a coating line can buy the pistachio cream and the kadayif filling in bulk and pour its own bar, buy dragées to sell under its own name, or have a pistachio tablet made under its brand in Gaziantep; the Ghanaian private label page goes through the formats and the artwork approval. The container is mixed, so the fillings, the dragées and the finished lines travel on their own pallets in one order.

The everyday shelf and the toffee trade

Where Turkish lines already sell in Ghana on price is the wholesale trade: wafers, wrapped bars and the toffees the kiosks and hawkers sell by the piece, in our standard packs, brought in by importers who know Tema and the registration. Those lines are stated as compound or chocolate per line on the offer, because the kiosk shelf has no cooling and the supermarket shelf does. The confectionery page lists them.

Who buys the container

The unit of sale is one full container, mixed across lines. A food importer, an Accra wholesale house or a chocolate company that fills one is quoted like an importer, with the registration on its side; a shop buys by the carton from the importer that brings it in. The offer lists the registration documents, and puts the price in US dollars with the tariff line and the duty that applies on the day.

What to send first

The lines from the chocolate page, the confectionery page and the dragée page, the quantity per line, and whether any line carries your own brand. The written offer follows within two working days, in US dollars and the registration documents listed; the samples page explains how to taste the lines first, and the Ghana page lists what stays the same on every offer.

Do you compete with Ghanaian chocolate?

Not on the everyday bar. We quote what the cocoa country does not make: the pistachio end, dragées for the wedding trade, Turkish delight, and the toffees and wafers the wholesale trade buys on price.

Can a Ghanaian chocolate company buy fillings from you?

Yes: pistachio cream and kadayif filling in bulk from our factory in Gaziantep, in the formats the offer states, and dragées or finished lines under its own name on selected lines.

Is the container a reefer?

For chocolate lines, yes, year round on this route. Compound lines and dry lines are quoted as the offer states.

How to order

Send the list. We do the rest.
