Dubai chocolate in the Maldives: the bar guests ask the boutique for, and where the pistachio comes from

Guests arrive having seen the bar on a phone screen and ask the boutique for it, and the boutique asks the supply company. Here is what the bar is, why most of the filling comes from Gaziantep, and what a supply company buys.

The bar

A thick milk chocolate shell filled with pistachio cream and toasted kadayif, the shredded pastry that gives the bite its crunch. The name comes from the city where it went viral, a few hours’ flight away and the transit airport for half the guests; the filling comes from further north. Pistachio is grown around Gaziantep and kadayif is made there in the same streets, which is why we were making pistachio and kadayif fillings long before the bar had a name, and why the bar is now made there in retail, gift and catering formats.

Where the searches go

The boutique, the duty-free counter at the airport, the shops of Malé, and the price. A supply company reads those searches differently: the demand arrives with the guest, the boutique is already asking, and a shelf-stable bar with a producer behind it, registered and dated on the pack, is what the trade is missing. The chocolate page lists the bar and the pistachio tablets next to it; pistachio cream in jars, for the restaurant, is on the pistachio page.

The cool chain

This bar is chocolate, and in the Maldives that decides how it travels: in a reefer year round, into a cool store in Malé, in a cool box on the boat, into a chilled boutique. It is stated as chocolate on the offer, next to the dry lines that need none of that. A supply company that plans the chain sells the bar all year; one that does not sells it in the shape it arrives.

The price question

For a guest the price is set by the boutique; for a supply company it is in the offer: the price per bar in US dollars, the case count, the pallet plan, the tariff line and the duty that applies on the day. Nothing that changes with the exchange rate or the season is printed on this site. The Maldives page lists what stays the same on every offer.

Under whose name

In our standard packs from the first container, or under the resort’s on selected lines: the Maldivian private label page goes through the formats, the label content and the artwork approval. A resort group that wants the bar in its own box for the boutique has a producer for it, and the pistachio cream and the kadayif filling are sold on their own for the pastry kitchen that pours its own.

What to send first

The lines from the chocolate page, the dragée page and the Turkish delight page, the quantity per line, and whether any line carries your own name. The written offer follows within two working days, in US dollars, with the certifying body named per line and the registration documents listed; the samples page explains how to taste the lines first, and the Maldives page lists what stays the same on every offer.

Every line here is made in our own factory at Başpınar OSB, Gaziantep — a 10,000 m² site, exporting since 2002 — and certificate copies are available on request.

Is Dubai chocolate made in Dubai?

The name comes from where it went viral. The pistachio and the kadayif come from around Gaziantep, and the bars and fillings we quote are made there.

Can a boutique order a few cartons?

The unit of sale is one full container, mixed across lines. A boutique buys from the supply company that brings it in; every line is in the offer.

Does the bar need a reefer?

Yes, year round on this route, and a cool chain to the island; it is stated as chocolate on the offer.

How to order

Send the list. We do the rest.

Send your product list with approximate quantities and the destination port. You get one offer covering every line, then one container, loaded and photographed before the doors close.
