Dubai chocolate for Norway: what is in the bar, and where it is made

Norway searches for this bar in both languages — around 5,400 a month for dubai sjokolade in Norwegian and about a thousand more in English — and it has gone from viral clip to standing shelf position in under two years. The discount and variety chains already stock it, so the opening is not a cheaper version of the same bar. The number that matters points the other way.

The number that decides the pitch

Turkish chocolate declared for export to Norway goes out at close to nineteen dollars a kilo — around three and a half times the average unit value of Türkiye’s chocolate exports, and roughly six times what the same producers ship to the Balkans. Norway does not publish import statistics of this kind, so the figure comes from the Turkish export declarations.

Whatever else it says, it says this shelf is not buying the cheap end. Turkish chocolate reaches Norway in small quantity at high unit value: the profile of specific products bought deliberately, not of volume chasing a price.

Why the cheap frame loses here

The low-price shelf is already covered. Discount and variety chains buy the viral version at volume, at a price that is not the argument to have from Gaziantep. What is not covered is the part of the shelf that wants a named origin: the pistachio stated as Gaziantep pistachio on the technical data sheet, kadayif that is actually kadayif, and a pistachio percentage written down. That is a different buyer, and the one the unit value describes.

What the bar is

Underneath the chocolate there are two things: pistachio spread and kadayif, the hair-thin strands of stretched dough that give the crunch. Neither is decoration. A bar with a thin pistachio filling and no kadayif does not taste like the one people remember from the video, and it sits on the shelf.

Both come from Gaziantep. The pistachio is grown and roasted here, the kadayif is made here, and the filling happens in the same city — which is why producers here can build the bar without buying anything in.

Chocolate or compound coating

This decides the label. Many bars in this category are coated with a compound rather than real chocolate. Compound is not wrong in itself — it travels better and costs less — but it cannot be declared as chocolate on the pack.

We state which each line is before the artwork is made, not after. On a shelf where the product arrives at the premium end, the declaration gets read, and an importer paying for that position does not want to defend a coating claim later.

What to check before you buy any version of it

Four things separate a bar that holds its shelf position from one that does not: the pistachio percentage, whether kadayif is there at all, whether the coating is chocolate or compound, and the filling weight against the coating weight. All four belong on the technical data sheet, per line.

The fifth is temperature: chocolate and chocolate-coated products travel at +18/+20 °C. For a mixed container in the warm months we quote a reefer; if you prefer a dry container, the temperature risk goes to you in writing before loading. Lokum, sugared almonds and jellies travel dry all year.

Where an importer sits

We are the manufacturer and exporter — we make the lines in our own factory and load several lines in one container, so the bar can travel with lokum, dragées and pistachio spread instead of filling a container on its own. The jar the shelf asks for as pistasjkrem ships as a spread, and the declaration says spread. Couverture and bulk chocolate sit outside the core range, sourced on request.

What to send, and what comes back

Send the references, the quantity per line and the port or town of arrival. What comes back within two working days is a written offer in US dollars or euros, with the coating type, the pistachio origin and the format stated per line, the minimum per line, the delivery term and the origin document — a EUR.1 under the Türkiye–EFTA agreement, since Norway sits outside the EU. Nothing is printed or loaded before that is in front of you. The Norway page carries the entry detail.

Is your Dubai-style bar chocolate or compound?

We state it per line before the artwork is made. Where a line is a compound coating it cannot be declared as chocolate, and the label content is prepared accordingly.

Is the pistachio from Gaziantep?

Yes, and it is named as Gaziantep pistachio on our technical data sheet, per line.

Can we have it under our own brand?

Yes, on the lines shown on the product pages and as one of our core services. The label content is prepared in Norwegian and nothing is printed before you approve the artwork in writing.

How to order

Send the list. We do the rest.

Send your product list with approximate quantities and the destination port. You get one offer covering every line, then one container, loaded and photographed before the doors close.
