Turkish delight wholesale in Norway: two formats, two buyers

Turkish delight is not an unknown here. English-language search for it runs around 1,600 a month in Norway, at one of the highest advertising costs in the whole category — the sign of a term people buy on rather than browse. In Norwegian, tyrkisk delight runs at much the same level and at much the same cost. What neither search settles is which format you are buying, and that decision changes the product and whose name goes on the pack.

The counter: bulk cartons, cut to your size

For a delicatessen counter and for repacking, the unit is a bulk carton with inner units of two to three kilos. The cut is made to your request rather than to our standard — tell us the cube size you work with and the offer states the cut per line. Bulk units carry no label; they are packed at your end, and the declaration on whatever retail pack you make from them is yours.

Cartons load one line per pallet, so a mixed load splits at your warehouse without opening cartons.

The shelf: 350 g window boxes and vacuum pouches

For the retail shelf the formats are the 350 g window box and the vacuum pouch. These carry your declaration. Same product, same workshop in Gaziantep — what changes is the pack and whose name is on it.

The Norwegian declaration is prepared from our technical data sheet: ingredients with allergens indicated, nutrition per 100 g, metric net quantity, best-before date and the importer’s details. The importer is the responsible party in Norway, so you confirm it against what Mattilsynet expects and approve the artwork in writing before anything is printed.

Fillings and dustings

Plain, or with pistachio, walnut or hazelnut; dusted with icing sugar, coconut, ground pistachio or kadayif. The counter wants larger pieces and visible filling; the shelf wants a cut face that reads through the window of the box. The technical data sheet travels with the offer and carries the composition and the shelf life.

Dusting is not filling, and the declaration has to keep the two apart. A piece rolled in ground pistachio is not a pistachio lokum, and a buyer who orders on the photograph rather than the data sheet finds out on arrival.

The name on the pack

The Norwegian shelf asks for it as tyrkisk delight or lokum, and either is fine. What is not fine is borrowing a name the product does not have. Where a line is special lokum — baklava-cut, roll formats, Aleppo-style — the offer says what it is, so your declaration matches the contents.

Who actually buys it here

The Norwegian wholesale trade for confectionery is real but small. Search in Norwegian for a confectionery wholesaler runs at around twenty a month, and the advertising cost on that handful of searches is among the highest we have measured in this category — a trade with few buyers and a lot riding on each one. Established Norwegian wholesale houses hold those results already.

The other route is the grocery import trade: Turkish and Middle Eastern importers in Oslo, Bergen, Trondheim and Stavanger already bringing lokum in through intermediaries and looking to buy nearer the producer.

It does not travel alone

A few pallets of lokum will not fill a container, and it does not have to. The mixed load is the point: some lokum, some dragées, a pistachio spread, a Dubai-style bar, each line on its own pallet under one packing list and one origin document. Lokum travels dry all year, so it can share a dry container or ride in a reefer with chocolate lines in the warm months.

What to send, and what comes back

Send the references, the quantity per line, the cut you want on the bulk cartons and the port or town of arrival. What comes back within two working days is a written offer in US dollars or euros, with the cut and the pack stated per line, the minimum per line, the delivery term — FCA Gaziantep, FOB Mersin, CIF or DAP — and the origin document that travels with the container. Norway is outside the EU, so that document is a EUR.1 under the Türkiye–EFTA agreement rather than an A.TR.

Can you make lokum under our own label?

Yes, on the retail formats — 350 g boxes and vacuum packs. Bulk cartons carry no declaration because they are repacked at your end.

Can you cut it to our size?

Yes. Tell us the cube size you use and the offer states the cut per line.

What is the minimum?

One full container or one full trailer, mixed across as many lines as you like. The minimum per line is stated in the offer.

How to order

Send the list. We do the rest.

Send your product list with approximate quantities and the destination port. You get one offer covering every line, then one container, loaded and photographed before the doors close.
