Hurtownia słodyczy: the candy wholesaler
The core term. A hurtownia słodyczy supplies shops, kiosks and smaller chains, and the Polish search data shows it is intensely regional: the phrase is completed with city after city — Warsaw, Wrocław, Katowice, Kraków, Bydgoszcz, Białystok — rather than with a national name.
That tells you something practical. This channel buys by the carton, holds stock regionally, and cares about carton weight, pieces per carton and how fast a line turns. It is the natural buyer for dragées, coated nuts, gelled sweets and boxed rachatłukum.
Hurtownia spożywcza and cash-and-carry
One step wider is the hurtownia spożywcza — the general food wholesaler — and the cash-and-carry trade behind it, which is the largest single term in the Polish B2B data we measured. This channel is buying a range rather than a category, and it is used to importers who can supply a full pallet of several references at once.
For a mixed container this is often the shortest route, because the buyer is already organised around clearing, storing and redistributing imported food rather than around one product family.
The imported-sweets aisle is its own category
The finding that changed how we wrote the Poland page: Polish autocomplete offers hurtownia słodyczy zagranicznych — a wholesaler of foreign sweets — and, separately, a wholesaler of American sweets. People are searching for imported confectionery as a category, not for a particular brand.
That is an opening rather than a niche. A buyer who already runs an imported aisle has the shelf, the customers and the clearance routine; what they need is a manufacturer who can specify every line and hand over a technical data sheet without a three-week delay.
The by-weight counter
Across the counter from all of that sits słodycze na wagę — sweets sold by weight — which in Poland runs through the grocery chains as much as through specialist stands. It is a format, not a product: bulk cartons for repacking, with piece weight and pieces per carton mattering more than carton weight, because the shelf label is built from them.
Gelled sweets, sugared almonds, chocolate dragées, coated nuts and loose rachatłukum all travel this way, and the same lines can be quoted in retail bags in the same container.
What each channel asks first
The candy wholesaler asks about carton format and turn. The food wholesaler asks about the range and the clearance file. The imported-sweets buyer asks who made it and whether the story holds. The by-weight buyer asks for piece weight and pieces per carton.
All four get the same answer set in the offer: minimum per line, carton weight and dimensions, piece weight and pieces per carton, the transport regime per range, and the documents travelling with the container.
What to send
Send the references, the quantity per line in cartons or pallets, the delivery address, and say which of those four you are. The written offer follows within two working days in US dollars or euro. Samples go before the container, from our current production.
Do you sell to Polish wholesalers directly?
We quote for food importers and distributors, hurtownia słodyczy and hurtownia spożywcza wholesalers, cash-and-carry operators, buyers running an imported-sweets aisle, and favour and gift suppliers. Send the references and the quantity per line and the written offer follows in two working days.
What is the difference between hurtownia słodyczy and hurtownia spożywcza?
The first is a confectionery wholesaler supplying shops and kiosks, usually regional and buying by the carton. The second is a general food wholesaler buying across categories, which for a mixed container is often the shorter route.
Can one container serve both the by-weight counter and the packed shelf?
Yes. The same lines can be quoted in bulk cartons for repacking and in retail bags in the same load, so one clearance covers both.
