What has to be on the pack
Packaged food sold in Poland carries the mandatory particulars in Polish, under the EU food information rules that apply across the Union: the food name, the ingredient list with allergens emphasised, the nutrition declaration per 100 g, metric net quantity, the date of minimum durability, storage conditions where they matter, and the name and address of the responsible food business operator.
We prepare that content in Polish from our technical data sheet — not from a translation of the English pack, which is where mistakes get copied forward.
Who is named, and why it is not us
The responsible food business operator is the party under whose name the food is marketed in the EU, and for an import that is the importer, with a Polish or EU address. It is not the exporter and it is not the producer in Gaziantep.
That matters because the named party answers for what the label says. The state sanitary inspection supervises food safety and the national revenue administration handles the entry; the registrations sit with the party established in Poland. What comes from our side feeds that file rather than replacing it: the technical data sheet per product, copies of our certificates, lot traceability from production lot to loaded pallet.
The two naming rules that catch people
First, a vegetable-fat coating cannot be labelled chocolate in the EU. Several Dubai-style bars are compound-coated, and we state per line which each is, so the front of pack and the ingredient list agree.
Second, the pistachio jar is a spread, not a confectioner's paste, however it is searched. Both corrections are made on the offer, before artwork, because a food name is not a marketing choice.
Polish trade vocabulary worth getting right
Two terms are worth checking before a listing sheet goes out. Turkish delight is rachatłukum in Polish; the short form lokum collides with an unrelated Polish company name and is not a reliable trade term here. And dragées are drażetki czekoladowe — the bare word drażetki is also used for pharmacy pastilles, so the qualifier belongs in the listing.
Neither is a rule of law. Both are the difference between a listing sheet that reads as though somebody knows the market and one that does not.
The order of work
Label content is prepared from the technical data sheet, you check it against your artwork, you approve it in writing, and only then does anything go to print. The lead time is counted from the deposit and from that approval, not from the enquiry.
Entry runs on an A.TR movement certificate under the EU–Türkiye customs union rather than a EUR.1 origin proof, and the offer states the tariff line and what applies on the day. We do not publish duty figures, because they change.
What to send
Send the references, the quantity per line, and say whether you will be the business named on the pack. The written offer follows within two working days: the lines and their minimums, the delivery term and transit, the documents travelling with the container, and per line whether the coating is chocolate or compound.
Does the label have to be in Polish?
Yes. Packaged food sold in Poland carries the mandatory particulars in Polish under the EU food information rules. We prepare the content from our technical data sheet and nothing is printed until you approve it in writing.
Who is named as the responsible food business operator?
The importer, with a Polish or EU address. It is not the exporter and not the producer. What comes from our side — data sheets, certificates for our factory, lot traceability — feeds that file rather than replacing it.
Do we need an A.TR or a EUR.1 for Poland?
An A.TR movement certificate. Poland is in the EU, so processed confectionery moves under the customs union rather than on a EUR.1 origin proof. The offer states the tariff line and the basis on which preferential treatment is claimed.
