Tahini and halva for the Romanian shelf: what a mixed container can carry

Measured in English from Romania, tahini and halva outrank almost every confectionery term in the category — and the searches land on Romanian supermarket names as often as on suppliers. That tells you the category is already on the shelf and the question is who fills it. It also says something about the buyer: sesame paste is bought as a grocery staple and as a bakery ingredient at once, and the two want different packs.

Why these two travel together

Tahini is ground sesame; halva is what tahini becomes with sugar. In Türkiye they come from the same workshops, which is why an importer who wants one is usually offered both. Neither is chocolate, neither needs temperature control, and both travel dry all year, which makes them easy passengers in a mixed container. The chocolate lines beside them are quoted at +18/+20 °C and, in the warm months, in a reefer; dry lines do not add to that cost.

Format decides the buyer

A 300 g retail jar goes to the grocery shelf. A 5 kg or 10 kg pail goes to a kitchen, a bakery or a producer using it as an ingredient. Halva comes as a block for the deli counter, cut by weight, or in retail packs. Tell us which end you sell into and the offer states the format and the minimum per line. The case count and the pallet plan follow from that one choice: jars are quoted per carton, pails per kilo, and a counter block needs a cut the deli can work with.

They sit outside our core range, and we say so

Our core range is chocolate, dragées, Turkish delight, special lokum, confectionery and the Gaziantep pistachio line. Halva and tahini are not in it. We source them on request: we confirm the composition, the format and the packing before quoting, then load them in the same container as the rest of your list. What we do not do is pretend they are a house line. The same holds for couverture, ciocolată menaj, bulk chocolate, raw pistachios and baclava. Certificates are issued for our factory and named per line; a line without one is stated as such rather than covered by a general claim.

The paperwork is the same as for confectionery

Romania is in the EU and Türkiye is in the EU–Türkiye customs union, so these lines move on an A.TR movement certificate like the rest of the load. The Romanian label is prepared to Regulation (EU) 1169/2011; sesame is a declared allergen and appears on it. We prepare the content from our technical data sheet — ingredients with allergens indicated, the nutrition declaration per 100 g, metric net quantity, the best-before date — and you place it in your artwork and approve the final version in writing. The name and address on the pack are those of the business placing the product on the market in the EU, and under the same regulation the accuracy of that declaration sits with the importer.

What the search says about the channel

Two searches, two pictures. In Romanian, the wholesale terms are held by domestic distributors and by the Turkish grocery importers already trading in Bucharest, Constanța and the larger cities. In English, the same intent lands on international B2B directories and on the retail chains carrying the jar. Neither result is a supplier list; both say the category has a shelf and an importer behind it. If you are that importer, the move is to buy nearer the producer and put the sesame lines in the same box as the confectionery you already bring in.

What to send, and what comes back

Send three things: the product references, the quantity per line, and the port or border of arrival — Constanța for a sea movement from Mersin, or the Bulgarian road crossing for a trailer. Say whether the jar or the pail is the format. Within two working days the offer comes back in writing, in US dollars or euros: ex-works price per line, case size, the pallet plan, the lead time and the document that travels with the goods. It is valid thirty days from its date, prices are not quoted in lei, and the minimum is one full container or trailer, mixed across as many lines as you like.

Do you stock tahini and halva?

No. They are outside the core range and are sourced on request; we confirm composition and format before quoting, and load them in the same container as your other lines.

Can they travel with chocolate?

Yes. Both travel dry all year, so they load alongside chocolate lines in a mixed container. Chocolate and chocolate-coated products travel at +18/+20 °C; the offer states how the load is quoted.

Is sesame declared on the label?

Yes. Sesame is a declared allergen under EU rules and appears in the ingredient list; the label content is prepared in Romanian from our technical data sheet.

How to order

Send the list. We do the rest.

Send your product list with approximate quantities and the destination port. You get one offer covering every line, then one container, loaded and photographed before the doors close.
