Turkish chocolate and Turkish sweets in Egypt: what is already on the shelf, and what is missing

Egypt makes a great deal of its own chocolate and imports a great deal of Turkish confectionery, and the two facts decide what an importer should bring. Here is what already sits on the Egyptian shelf from Türkiye, what is missing, and who buys the container. The offer states per line whether a coating is real chocolate or a compound, because the two do not behave the same on an uncooled shelf.

What is already there

Turkish wrapped sweets, wafers and everyday bars have been on the Egyptian shelf for years in our standard packs, brought in by importers who know the route and the free trade paperwork. An importer that wants to add those lines can carry established Turkish chocolate brands from the start; the brands or your own label article goes through the choice, and the chocolate page and the confectionery page list the lines.

What is missing

The pistachio end. Egypt’s own factories make the everyday bar well and cheaply, and an imported everyday bar competes on price alone; what the Egyptian factory does not have is the pistachio grown around Gaziantep, and that is where the Turkish lines earn their place: the pistachio tablet, the Dubai style bar with pistachio and kadayif, pistachio cream in jars, chocolate coated pistachio dragées, and the Turkish delight roll filled with whole pistachio. The pistachio page lists the groups.

Turkish sweets and Turkish desserts

Turkish sweets Egypt and Turkish desserts Egypt are searches for the box: boxed Turkish delight, the mini-bar assortment, coated nuts and the pistachio jar for the gift table, next to the malban and the kahk rather than instead of them. Baklava from Gaziantep is sourced on request and loaded in the same container; the Turkish confectionery beyond lokum article goes through the range.

Who buys the container

The unit of sale is one full container, mixed across lines. A food importer or a wholesale house fills it, with the registration with the food safety authority and the advance cargo information on its side; a chocolate shop or a box dresser buys by the carton from the importer that brings it in. The offer states which lines our registration for Egypt covers, and puts the price per line in US dollars with the tariff line and what applies under the free trade agreement on the day.

Dry or reefer

Wrapped sweets, jellies, sugared almonds and Turkish delight travel dry all year; chocolate lines go in the reefer, year round on this route. The mixed-container page explains how the load is built, each line on its own pallet, so an importer can add the pistachio end to an order of the everyday lines it was making anyway.

What to send first

The lines from the chocolate page, the dragée page and the Turkish delight page, the quantity per line, the port, Alexandria, Port Said or Damietta, and whether any line carries your own brand. The written offer follows within two working days, in US dollars, with the registration named per line; the samples page explains how to taste the lines first, and the Egypt page lists what stays the same on every offer.

Can we carry Turkish brands or do we need our own?

Both. Most lines are available in our standard packs from the first container; on selected lines the same products can be made under your own name.

Is there duty on Turkish chocolate into Egypt?

There is a free trade agreement in force and the goods travel with its movement certificate; what applies to each line on the day is stated in the offer, not on this site.

Is the container a reefer?

For chocolate lines, yes, year round on this route. Dry lines travel dry; a mixed load is quoted as the offer states.
