Turkish delight in Singapore: the Turkish sweet shops, the delis and the boxes from Gaziantep

The city has its own Turkish sweet shops, and the searches point at them. Behind the counter is a carton, and behind the carton a producer in Gaziantep.

The Turkish sweet shops

Singapore has Turkish sweet shops and cafes that bake their own baklava and serve Turkish ice cream, and a Turkish quarter of restaurants that the searches for Turkish food Singapore point at. What those shops buy in is what they do not make: boxed Turkish delight, the pistachio roll, chocolate covered lokum, dragées and pistachio cream. We do not name them; the trade knows them. We quote the importers and distributors that supply them, and a shop group that imports for itself. A shop that starts with the box usually adds the pistachio roll within a season, because the customer who has tasted it asks for it by name.

The delis and the gift trade

The second shelf is the delicatessen and the gift company: the printed box of dusted cubes in rose, lemon and pomegranate, and the Gaziantep finger roll filled with whole pistachio and coated in coconut or kadayif, cut to order. It is the box behind Turkish delight chocolate Singapore and Turkish dessert Singapore searches, given at Hari Raya and Chinese New Year as a gift that is neither chocolate nor cake. The Turkish delight page lists the groups; the special lokum counter range belongs to the same shelf.

Halal and the box

Plain starch-set lokum carries few of the ingredients a halal certifier checks; chocolate covered pieces carry more. Either way the certificate is ours, named per line in the offer with the certifying body so recognition can be checked in Singapore. A gift company that sells at Malay weddings asks this first, and the offer answers it per line.

Own brand on the box

A deli chain, a gift company or a Turkish sweet shop group can have the box printed under its own name as one of our core services, with the label content prepared from the data sheet and the artwork approved before printing. The Singapore private label page lists the formats.

How it travels

Plain and dusted lokum travels dry all year to Singapore. Chocolate covered pieces follow the chocolate rule on this route: a reefer year round, because the container crosses the tropics. Each line has its own pallet, so the Turkish delight box shares the container with dragées for door gifts and pistachio chocolate for the supermarket shelf. A first order is usually one pallet of boxes next to other lines, not a container of lokum. The Singapore page lists what stays the same on every offer; the Turkish delight explained article covers the recipe and the varieties.

Asking for a price

What we need to price it: the lines you want from the turkish delight page, how much of each, and where it lands. Two working days later the written offer comes back with the specification, the case weight and the minimum per line.

A sample goes out before any of that if you want to taste the lines first — free from running production, courier at your cost. The singapore: what stays the same on every offer page lists what stays the same on every offer, and the private label for singapore brands page covers putting your own name on the pack.

Do the Turkish sweet shops in Singapore buy Turkish delight?

Most bake their own baklava and buy in what they do not make: boxed lokum, the pistachio roll, chocolate covered pieces, dragées and pistachio cream.

Is Turkish delight halal?

The certificate is held for our factory, with the certifying body named in the offer; plain lokum carries few sensitive ingredients, and the data sheet states each recipe.

Can a gift company brand the box?

On selected lines, as one of our core services, with the label content prepared before printing.
